This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Versailles, KY. The food is great and the staff is incredible.

I’d eat here every single day if my husband let me! Everything’s delicious, I’m also a big fan of the horchata!

We had gone to this restaurant when it first opened and the food was great. Unfortunately, last night our food wasn’t so great. There were four of us that ate their and out of the four, three of us did not have great meals. I ordered the fajita consumel (spelling ?), and it was burnt all over the bottom of the dish, my husband order a shrimp and chicken dish and the chicken was very dry. My friend ordered a dish that was supposed to have peppers and onions and there was barely any at all. Unfortunately, our experience this time was disappointing.

Great place to go eat in Versailles! Especially when there is not anywhere to eat in this crappy town of Versailles

Absolutely the best chimichanga Ive had. I ordered the steak and its tender as it can be and flavored perfect. The salsa is fantastic too. Only complaint is the Dr Pepper is flat. But the food. FANTASTIC

My wife and I have been traveling across the US the past few years and often look to Mexican restaurants for lunch or dinner.
We have learned the quality while typically mid grade, is consistent. We have also found a few rise Mexican Restaurants that rise above the rest because the food is exceptional.
On our trip through bourbon country, El Tapatio in Varsailles (just south of Frankfort) joined our list of top Mexican Restaurants.
Why, it was simple, the food was both unique and exceptional.

There were no microwaved beans and rice, the refried beans were fresh and creamy, the rice warm and fresh and the plate cool to the touch.

My fajita was unique with shrimp, steak, chicken, and a flavorful pork sausage. The vegetables were fresh and well cooked with the cast iron was super hot.

The kicker was the entire pan was covered with a very sweet and savory melted cheese.

My wife had enchiladas, again the the gooey cheese was wonderful, the rice fresh, and the plate as cool as the other side of the pillow.

The only slight disappointment was the chips and salsa. Chips were good but not great, the salsa fresh but without the depth of flavor we enjoy.

Bottom-line, we will go to El Tapatio anytime we're in Versailles, Kentucky.
