I recently dined at La Tratorria and had a wonderful experience and delicious meal. It was so nice and the food was so delicious that I decided to return with my entire family. (6/21) We entered the restaurant and upon seeing the “Please seat yourself” sign chose an empty table and sat down. We were greeted with menus and asked for drink orders within a reasonable amount of time. After receiving our drinks, we were asked for our order. We planned to order pizza for the entire table so I inquired about the number of slices in a pizza. This was in order to help determine which size and how many I needed to order. This seems like a reasonable question and something that anyone waiting tables in this restaurant should know. The waitress responded flippantly that she had no idea!! She then proceeded to inform me that she does not eat anything in the restaurant! She then continued to explain to me that she “is on a Whole Foods diet” and only eats Whole Foods as she uses her hands to point out her slim figure. I found these comments very disturbing! I would hope that the owners/managers of this restaurant would frown upon the serving staff implying that eating the food would be a poor decision! On top of that it was quite unnecessary. I made a guess at the number of pizzas our family would need and placed our order. The wait for our food was quite lengthy. We received our pizzas before receiving our appetizers. The table next to us was a large table and their meals were delivered one or two at a time over the course of at least 10-15 minutes instead of at the same time. However, the food was very good and we enjoyed the the taste and temperature very much. We did not receive any drink refills and upon receiving the check waited for far to long to have someone take our card to pay our bill. My husband finally took the bill and card to the bar where our waitress was attempting to make a drink. Upon seeing him standing there, she actually had the nerve to ask him if she could figure out how to make the drink before cashing us out. My husband told her no and that we wanted to leave. She responded by asking him if he wanted to hear her story? She then explained that she was only 17 years old and that there was no management at the restaurant. (Why is a 17 year old attempting to make an alcoholic drink?) This is not an excuse for her poor attitude and poor service. She sat down at a table with someone she obviously knew more than once while we were in the restaurant instead of refilling our drinks or informing herself about items on the menu. She did not apologize for her pitiful, rude service and comments or offer to reduce our bill. I am sorry to say that we will probably not return due to her poor attitude and service. This is a shame because on both occasions the food was delicious!! Management/owners need to look into the service at the restaurant if they hope to be successful!

I really don’t enjoy doing reviews like this, but everything went wrong this night. We have eaten here before and it was delicious at that time. However, I understand there was a different cook this night. I believe that was the whole problem. First, we ordered Garlic Cheese Bread. It took a good 20 minutes to get it and it was totally burnt on the bottom and around some of the edges. I was hungry so I did eat 3 pieces. My husband and sister only ate 1 piece each. Not much flavor with the burnt crust. Next, we got our salads. All Italian Garlic Salads which were very good. Next came the meals several minutes later. I got the Penne Alla Vodka with blackened chicken. The chicken was pretty burnt as you can see in the picture. The pasta was pretty tasty though. I would order it again. My sister got the Garlic Herb Roasted Salmon. She said it was pretty good. Would have been better with angel hair pasta, but turns out they were out of it and just didn’t mention it to her. Instead gave her regular spaghetti without asking what she would choose instead. Minor issue. My husband ordered Shrimp Scampi. We are aware that there is lemon in this dish. However, it should not overpower the garlic butter flavor. He couldn’t eat it. The waitress was very nice and asked if she could bring him something else. He declined at first, but decided to order a Burger after she kept insisting. He received his Burger. He lifted the top bun and toppings and guess what… no Burger. 🤦‍♀️ That was the final straw. We were done for the evening. They didn’t charge us for anything so you might think I shouldn’t do this review, but I felt I needed to. I understand that the cook burnt 6 pizzas that night. Something is wrong if that’s happening. The waitress was very nice and apologetic. I plan to return there, but I’m hoping that cook is gone.

Fantastic addition to downtown Winchester. Very good food, selection, and service!

You HAVE to put La Trattoria on your list of places to eat!

To sum it up, it has potential to be a good Italian food joint. The food is good, not great, and sometimes not so good on an off day. Its the service with this place.. In the past, I could laugh off the poor service and kept hoping it would finally get worked out. This weekend was the end. Two hours of poor service and watching people that had arrived more than a half hour after us get their food while we sat with empty drinks was it. What else can I say: Questo posto, per me, non esiste più.

It's a nice joint! I enjoyed my experience. It's in a nice location right along main street, and it's got a cool ambience. The food was solid. I ordered pizza, the Quattro Formagia (4 cheese), and I went with some friends and we all got different pizzas. The other pizzas they bought all looked really solid as well! Definitely kind of a unique joint, and a real gem for that area. Overall, I gave it a 4 of 5, but that shouldn't deter anyone. Definitely a spot to visit if you're in Winchester!

This was truly the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Our waitress was extremely rude and unconcerned. I didn’t quite catch her name, but she does have a stepson there named Jayden, who appeared to be the only one up front ACTUALLY doing their job. We waited for over 25 minutes for someone to take our order, and then waited for almost an hour for our food to arrive. The waitress claimed “our food was up next” and then we proceeded to wait another 15 minutes, and she handed the table beside us our food first whenever we were there probably 45 minutes before them. My family was there 2 hours, and this is not an exaggeration. Including the terrible wait times, the waitress was extraordinarily rude. She was complaining about someone who dropped dishes in the back to us. UNPROFESSIONAL! Whenever she brought us our food, I kindly asked if she had my dad’s and she responded “I only have two hands” very snarky. I understand this isn’t a fast food establishment, but this was just out right ridiculous. Never come here.

I had the Sunday Sauce which is a huge bowl of Spaghetti and meatballs and Italian sausage. It was without a doubt the best sauce I have ever put in my mouth and I used to be married to an Italian. This little gem is situated in charming downtown Winchester, KY. The bourbon list is small but thorough. I had some Buffalo Trace with my meal. It's only 5 minutes off the highway and well worth the stop. Great service and reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere. Don't miss this gem!!

The restaurant is truly a hidden gem!! We came in from Morehead just to travel around Winchester and see what we find and stumbled into the warmest coziest yummiest restaurant!! My friend and I are big bruschetta girls, so when we saw it on the menu, we had to try it! Google Review reader, when I tell you this was life changing bruschetta, I am not lying. This bruschetta was fresh (and always homemade we were told by our lovely server), this bruschetta was sweet from the balsamic reduction and tangy from the onions. It was perfect. I will dream about this bruschetta. We also got a Margherita pizza, which was of course so yummy, but that’s now what this post is about. Please get this bruschetta, you will thank me. Also the service was so quick and our server was so nice and played into our questions about this magical bruschetta :)

We had two meals in the last couple of weeks traveling through Winchester at La trattoria. The people who work there were working incredibly hard and the service was really good and the food was really good. We have a soft spot for Winchester and enjoy the downtown every time we go through.

I have never had an Italian dining experience before that had no bread anywhere. We were disappointed in the food; the chicken in the chicken parm was tasteless. The cheese in the sauce tasted like it had gone to mold and it left a decidedly weird, not-parmesan taste. The salad was fresh, but I asked for no green peppers and got little squares of them anyway that had to be carefully dodged. Our server apologized probably 7-8 times during our visit for the slow service, for us having to ask for napkins and silverware, for more slow service; we were friendly and tried to stay out of her hair so she could work, but we sat without things we needed more than not (like a clean knife and more water and a napkin). It wasn't very busy but it looked like she was running the bar and most of the tables without much help. We have no reason to ever go back.

Friends suggested this restaurant and we met them there. Very surprised at how good it was. Wine was excellent and I had pasta with Gorgonzola sauce with blackened chicken and bacon it was awesome. Had buffalo wings and bruschetta that were the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Would highly recommend this jewel.

It was Sunday evening and service was slow. Our salads were really good but could have used more dressing. They make their dressings there. The Italian was great. I had the garlic and oil on spaghetti with sausage. It was quite tasty but needed more oil. My friend had the Chicken Alfredo. It was wonderful. The chicken was nice and crispy. I would definitely return.

Parking: Limited space nearby.
