While it may look like a little portable building on a corner, it's so much more than that. Don't let the looks deceive you. They have the most amazing gumbo ever! It's always hot, fresh and delicious. I've had the boudin balls and meatpies and love them too! I've never experienced any service issues.
Stopped by here on my trip back home to Dallas from New Orleans. Very nondescript location and was wondering if it was actually open when I parked on the gravel surrounding it. Opened the door and the owner was inside, ready for my order. Plenty of menu options [take out only] and a nice last stop for me to take some good Louisiana food back home with me on my road trip.
This building is so ugly you won’t believe it is a restaurant. Don’t let that fool you. Go there at noon and you will see people standing on the rickety wooden steps trying not to fall through. Why? Because it’s worth risking a broken ankle or hip. The chicken gumbo is the best in the south. In fact everything is great. There is no place to sit. Nope.
