Ms. Rachel was our waitress and cocktail provider. She was so friendly. The hummus she recommended for our starter really kicked off the meal. Her drinks were delicious and refreshing. Her cucumber Gin and Tonic was a sparkling surprise that went really well with my perfectly barely seared Tuna steak with grilled pineapple and jasmine rice with a wasabi honey sauce that could have been drunk. My honey got a steak that was cooked just how we like it: RARE. YUM! NOT TOO SALTY. I hate a good piece of meat that is ruined by over salting. I loved the layout of the outside eating area with all of the flowers and the super groovy music. They had Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, and Tyler Childers playing over the speakers. It is by far the best dining experience I've had in a long time. I usually end up regretting going out and wish I had just cooked at home instead of wasting my money on restaurant food. They get a 100% approval rating for atmosphere, taste, and service! Who knew such a gem was waiting on an out of the blue Louisiana adventure!?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Weekly Favorite That Always Delivers
Spirits Food & Friends is more than just a restaurant—it’s a vibe. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon on the patio with a breeze and a cold drink, or a packed house on a Friday night buzzing with energy, the staff never misses a beat. They’re warm, attentive, and genuinely happy to make your experience great every single time.
The food? Always a hit. From comfort classics to creative specials, every dish comes out with flavor and flair. And if you want to tweak something—substitute a side, switch a sauce—they go out of their way to make it happen with a smile. That kind of flexibility and care is rare, and it keeps us coming back.
This is our go-to weekly spot to unwind, laugh, and catch up with friends over drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively, and the patio is a dream—especially because our furry friends are always welcome. Spirits knows how to make everyone feel at home, two-legged or four.
If you’re looking for a place that feels like community, tastes like comfort, and treats you like family, Spirits Food & Friends is it.

I was in town for work and this spot came highly recommended. We arrived around 6 PM and were seated right away.
The service started off strong--our waiter quickly brought menus and water.
To start, I ordered the fried green beans. Honestly, nothing on the appetizer menu really stood out, so it felt like a safe choice just to have something on the table. No complaints, but the appetizer selection could use a little more variety.
For my main course, I went with the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp & Grits, along with a side of the twice baked potato. The shrimp were tasty--no issues there--but there were only about 4 or 5 pieces, and the sauce was overly salty. I ended up eating the shrimp and leaving the rest. On the other hand, the twice baked potato was fantastic--definitely the highlight of the meal.
I ordered the bread pudding to go, but it was a bit underwhelming. Definitely not their best, and I wouldn’t order it again.
Overall, the service was excellent, and the food ranged from good to great. I'd recommend giving it a try. I have a feeling there's something on the menu I'd really love with a bit more exploration.

Went for my birthday last year and it was phenomenal! Decided to do it again this year, to be seated and made to wait 20 minutes with no drink or anything. The server briefly stopped by to ask what we wanted to drink and took ten more minutes after that without bringing anything, so we left. Not sure if there is a staffing issue but i was pretty disappointed. There was 3 hosts at the front and what looked to be 2 servers. Not a good feeling feeling like we weren't a priority, don't think we'll be back.

I stopped in at Spirits in Alexandria and ordered a burger medium, but it came out burnt. The waitress was very kind and immediately offered to get a manager. Instead of remaking the burger, they just took it off the bill, which wasn’t really what I wanted—I would have preferred a properly cooked burger. The manager never came out to check on the situation either. Because of that, I ended up leaving and going to Whataburger instead. The service from the waitress was great, but the management’s lack of follow-up left me disappointed.

Several people suggested Spirits Food & Friends, so I decided to stop in. The food overall was good, but the service at the bar left something to be desired. The bartenders pretty much neglected me the entire time. While I don’t mind being left alone while eating sometimes, a little attentiveness would’ve been appreciated.
For food, I started with the deviled eggs, which were exactly what I expected—classic in flavor, though the sauce presentation was a bit messy. Next, I had the New Orleans BBQ shrimp with grits. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and flavorful, but the grits seemed slightly overdone and the plate had so much sauce it looked more like soup than a balanced dish. Still, the flavors were there, and the portion was filling (though I wish there had been more grits).
For drinks, I tried an old fashioned, which unfortunately wasn’t great. Personally, I don’t think fruit should be muddled into an old fashioned—it overpowers the whiskey, which is the whole point of the cocktail.
Overall, my experience was decent, and I can see why this spot is highly recommended by locals—but some refinement in service and balance of flavors would go a long way
