First time ordering from here, and it was very underwhelming. Customer service was actually better than the food. Rice was bland, tamales and enchiladas were dry and visibly overheated. Many signs pointed to the food not being fresh. The chimichanga cheesecake left a lot to be desired too. Hate to say this, but chain restaurants produce better quality than what we just ordered. The only edible item we ordered was the queso, but not all the chips were fresh. I prefer supporting small businesses, but this experience left a lot to be desired.

Some of the best Mexican in Baton Rouge! The bring you the chips with several types of salsas and dips. Can't complain. The crispy beef tacos are amazing too!

It was by chance that I went to this place. The GPS took us through the movie theater parking lot. The food was good. A little on the high side but authentic indeed .The server was great and attentive, didn't share her name though.

Ahuuas is good, but I remember it being better once upon a time. It probably wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican, but I would eat there. It does seem a little pricey for Mexican food, but then again, everything is getting crazy expensive, it seems. The interior is unassuming but warm and inviting. Service is pretty good. The time before last when I went, I had enchiladas that were good. I like that they have options you don't see elsewhere. The last time I went I had Birria tacos, which are not on the menu (unless that changed since I went) but were advertised in the window. They had good flavor and were loaded with meat. This is great for carnivores. I would have appreciated more cheese, or a better meat : cheese ratio. The other thing that didn't wow me was the texture. I had to eat the tacos with a fork and knife and would have preferred to have them crispier and able to be handheld as dipping in the consommé was difficult. One thing that did stand out in our last visit as compared to previous visits is that they served what tasted like a chili dip in addition to the salsa. It was different and it was tasty. You'll find solid Mexican food here with some items that may be more Authentic Mexican than the usual Tex-Mex place. They usually don't have a lot of business when I go but I hope they continue to do well.

Service was barely considered average had to get up multpile times to get her attention. Food was mediocre at best and for the price they are charging , which is double what everyone else charges for the same thing. It isn't a place you should even step foot in unless you like being overcharged for cheap food and lazy waitstaff and looks dirty inside not maintained at all.

(I’m writing this for my in laws) My in laws decided to try out new food today and went to the restaurant, my father-in-law ordered el molecajete and my mother-in-law ordered a chicken soup. When the food arrived my father in law’s food was wrong (they gave him carne asada instead but he was fine with it) my mother in laws’s food was right but when she glanced at it she noticed that it had weird bubbles on the top (kind of like when soup has been sitting out too long or has gone bad) she went to smell it and it had a sour smell but she just thought that maybe they had put lime/lemon in it so she ignored it and went to taste it. When she tasted it she said it was definitely spoiled so she didn’t eat it. The waitress finally came around and noticed that she hadn’t eaten the soup so she asked if she liked it and my mother in law told her that she didn’t. They didn’t offer to replace or remove it off the bill and my mother in law isn’t one to complain or be picky about food so she didn’t say anything but when they went to pay she did mention that the soup was not good and that it was spoiled but they still charged them the full amount (roughly around $50). My mother in law just wanted to bring to light the big mistake that took place today and hopefully they are more careful because this could have gave someone food poisoning.

We dined at Ahuua's Mexican Restaurant today, and my entire family was impressed. Service was prompt and polite. The food was very fresh and clearly homemade, and the menu was expansive. My dish had steak, chicken, shrimp, and chorizo; all meats were good and seemed to be of good quality. Veggies seemed freshly prepared. The dessert was fantastic. I will definitely return!

The food was pricey for mediocre Mexican food, and service was okay. What I meant by mediocre food was bland, and the salsa was watery not fresh.

Very pricey food for below average mexican. Enchilada and potato sauce was not good. Steak was tough, and the ground beef was not very good. Don’t waste your money here.

Go there maybe once a month. Very quick but not intrusive service. Accurate order and reasonable variety. Food quality very good at very good prices. I would expect to pay a little more. They are family run, not a chain atmosphere. If you expect tasty food but not fancy you will be pleasantly surprised.?
