I spent roughly $45 on a pan of Shrimp Fried Rice and some Fried Chicken. The Shrimp was perfectly cooked, but the dish itself was dry. And the Fried Chicken was so dry and hard. It was as if the chicken was cooked the day before and recooked just to heat it up. I will never shop at this location again. What a waist of money and time.

When i ask whats going on the plates you could fit literally 3wings in one hand is a understatement. Beans swimming in juice. I ask could i get a lil more rice to try and balance it out. He got flip,,now i go here all the time my plate never look like this . It felt very lite that's how i knew something was off. 0 for customer service. Know better do better that's how you lose customers. Rudeness never win

Food (1 star): I ordered small shrimp fried rice 10 minutes after restaurant opened. Received five tiny red shrimps. Shrimp was smaller than pinky finger nail. So disappointed. Never will I buy the shrimp fried rice again.

Service (5 stars): Lady in drive thru window and lady inside at counter were both polite and focused on my needs.

Atmosphere (3 stars): Overall area looked clean. However, recommend they remove boxes and supplies from front of store. I thought it was a storage area but boxes were in customer waiting area.

It's the worst tasting chicken I've ever had. I just don't get what others are saying that it's good

One thing I’ll always do is stop & get a red bean plate from the blue store! The chicken is going to hit every single time! The red beans are always so good (they could use a little more sausage in the beans though) but, it’s always a good experience at this location!

Blue Store Chicken is hands-down one of my favorite spots for fried chicken in Baton Rouge, and the North Boulevard location (4949, I believe) is the absolute best. Over the years, Blue Store has expanded across the city with locations on Swan Street, Highland Road, Burbank, Old Hammond Highway, and Plank Road in Baker. Each location has its own unique flavor, but not all Blue Store Chickens are created equal.

The North Boulevard location is the real standout for me. The chicken here is always crispy, perfectly seasoned, and spicy with just the right amount of kick. It’s almost always hot and fresh, straight out of the fryer. My go-to order is simple: three wings and three potato logs, and it never disappoints. The potato logs are just as much of a star as the chicken—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and utterly delicious.

Now, while the chicken and logs are consistently excellent, I can’t say the same for their sides. The shrimp fried rice is a pass for me—it’s made with parboiled rice and canned shrimp, which leaves it lacking in flavor and texture. The red beans and rice at this location also fall short of the mark. I’ve tried them multiple times, and they’re just not Louisiana-quality red beans. However, if you’re looking for great red beans, I’d recommend the Highland Road location, which does them better.

Special shoutout to the Baker location on Plank Road: they used to have a lady named Mona who cooked the most incredible red beans (and dirty rice!) on Sundays and Mondays. Her red beans were the best I’ve ever had from any Blue Store location.

While I can’t recommend the sides at North Boulevard, I wholeheartedly recommend the chicken and potato logs. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or just in the mood for the best fried chicken in town, Blue Store Chicken is a must-visit. The service is quick, and you’ll be in and out in about five minutes unless they’re frying fresh batches.

10/10 for the chicken, especially at North Boulevard! Highly recommend.
