Cecelia Creole Bistro has got to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. This place is every bit of the 5-stars. The atmosphere is casual. The service is through-and-through. The food will have you sitting there with a clean plate-like my goodness, that was amazing!
If you are in downtown Baton Rouge, this restaurant needs to be on your go-to list!

I've never been more disappointed with a restaurant than this one. I'd heard nothing but good things about Cecelia from friends, reviews, and 225 magazine, however first impressions are everything with me. I stopped in on a Tuesday evening around 7pm, the restaurant was busy but not slammed. The atmosphere is nice, sort of a romantic feel to the decor and lighting. I ordered the gumbo which had a good amount of ingredients, but came to the table at room temperature. The flavor was just ok, not bad, but absolutely nothing special. Followed the gumbo with etoufee and same thing, good amount of ingredients, but came to the table at room temperature. Also just ok. The one highlight of the menu was the skillet cornbread with cane syrup, excellent taste and presentation at you guessed it room temperature. Cool spot for a drink before dinner but save your appetite for elsewhere in the downtown area.

Heading home from New Orleans, and decided to stop by to see the Old Capitol Building. Cecelia was close, so we popped in for a bite. Wow! What a happy accident! Small, intimate space that was both informal and upscale. The hostess greeted us immediately, and we sat at a table for two. Evan was our server, and explained the specials as well as answered our questions about the menu. My husband ordered the redfish (which was served over grits with collard greens and smothered in crawfish étouffée), and I ordered the shrimp and grits (with a delicious butter BBQ sauce, and served with a pistolette). Both dishes were amazing, and we cleaned our plates! Between the excellent service and the outstanding food, we have decided to make sure and stop by Baton Rouge again on our next road trip just to eat at Cecelia’s!

We had dinner at Cecilia Creole Bistro during our stay in Lafayette and it turned out to be a wonderful evening. The restaurant offers a refined and contemporary take on Creole cuisine in a warm yet lively atmosphere.
I started with the boudin balls, which were perfectly prepared and full of flavor, a great nod to Louisiana tradition. For the main course, I chose the jerk fried chicken, and it was outstanding. Crispy, well seasoned and beautifully balanced, with just the right amount of heat.
The service was genuinely friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The lively evening atmosphere added energy without feeling overwhelming.
Cecilia shows a more elegant side of Lafayette’s food scene while staying true to its roots. Highly recommended for a refined but vibrant dinner in downtown Lafayette.

An adorable small restaurant in the heart of downtown. We came in on a whim and didn’t have a reservation, but the very friendly staff were able to get us a table with no wait. The inside is adorable, romantic and quaint. Everything we ordered was excellent! The cornbread appetizer was a 10/10, the gumbo was unique and genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had, the Mahi Mahi special was perfectly cooked and paired with perfect sides, and the Cajun fish was incredible. This is our new go-to restaurant when we’re in town!

Restaurant Week at Cecilia Creole Bistro did NOT disappoint! Everything was flawless!
From the creamy crab & brie soup and deviled eggs with tasso jam to crispy duck rangoon, tender smoked beef cheeks (my personal favorite), and that mahi mahi étouffée-style risotto!
And don’t sleep on dessert; every bite was a win!

Delicious food, great service. The only ding on the food was our Mahi Mahi being extremely overcooked to the point it was tough. Flavors were still there, though.
Cecelia's never disappoints. I had the mahi and risotto. I couldn't imagine what "etouffee inspired" risotto would be like but it was quite tasty. I could have eaten my weight in the pecan upside down cake and I'm not a dessert person. Great experience all around.

Came for lunch. The sweet and spicy alligator was a bit on the salty side for me. Overall a good experience.
