Delicious soul food, a local favorite. Plate lunches you can order in advance and pick up. Just know it’s popular and crowded and extremely loud, sometimes argumentative amongst a demanding crowd, so I recommend takeout. Food is fantastic though, the sides are incredible.

Today my friend Danika and I went to Chicken Shack. Chekita White and Kris Williams served us amazing food. Mac’n cheese, red beans, fries and a chicken sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious and the staff was most importantly so welcoming and friendly. I will tell everyone about this little diamond of a family owned restaurant and I’m coming back for a chicken wrap!

The chicken was as great as it was 50 years ago! Be prepared for the greasy bag... but every once in a while, it's worth cheating. I wasn't 100% on the red beans, hence the 4 starts. There is too much cumin-like flavor. Overall, it is nostalgic and still delicious.
