Best steak in Louisianan I’ve had in years. Won’t be getting steak anywhere else.

Doe's Eat Place has become a staple in the Baton Rouge area. Their steaks and filets are delicious but you need to bring your appetite along with you. The smallest steak is 1.5 pounds, that's a lot of meat to put away. They have some of the best tamales you can find, and the optional Chilli you can get to put over them is FIYA. Staff is always friendly and extremely good at their jobs. There are other options on the menu such as pasta and seafood, as well as some of the best dessert biscuits as a finisher. Give them a try if you're on Government Street.

Wonderful graduation experience. Private room so we could have special moments with our graduate. A beautiful ending to a great day.

Mother's Day Braised Lamb Shank was ambrosial along with the whipped potatoes and broccoli. I also love the soft shell crab poboy....omg...the best I've ever had. The burgers are divine and the Ahi Tuna is one of my top five favs.

Food was consistent, as always. Steaks were wonderful... I will note my son's steak was a little undercooked versus what he ordered, but he ate it all. Sides were great and service was good as well.

This was our first time here and we were here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Because I am nursing and injured shoulder they sat us at a larger table to accommodate my sling for which I am truly grateful. Chris, our server, was wonderful! He knew the menu well and took very very good care of us! We tried their famous starter of tamales and chili neither of which was overwhelmingly good. They are known for their steaks so we decided to split a T-bone. I chose to have the Caesar salad and it was here that disappointment began. The dressing tasted more like mayonnaise than any Caesar salad I've ever had before. We asked for the steak medium rare but it was more blue on the inside and so we had to send it back. The potatoes were boiled with either cloves or five spice powder. Those are very esoteric tastes and not to my liking. The asparagus and mushrooms were terribly salty. I asked if the chef smoked cigarettes and was told "yes how did I know?" I responded that it was because everything was so heavily salted he couldn't possibly not smoke cigarettes. We had a very good bottle of wine but the vintage on the menu was not the vintage presented at the table. Because it was my husband's birthday, dessert was on the house. We got a chocolate chip bread pudding to go. I don't think we'll be back but since this is a highly rated restaurant in the region, they won't be hurting for our support.

The steaks are excellent and the server, Mary, was beyond expectations. The entire meal, in my opinion, was heaven on Earth. Going to Doe's is a pleasure that I drive 30 miles to enjoy at the very least once a month and often more frequently. The drinks are top notch. Tonight I had the featured French Onion Soup and it was surpassed only by the French Onion Soup in Paris, France. Overall I would give the entire experience a TEN.

We went for our 4 year anniversary. It wasn't the ambience we're used to for a steak dinner, HOWEVER, the customer service/hospitality, especially from the hostess, was stellar. She was very friendly, and came over to explain the menu in detail while our waitress was away. The food was even better than the service! We have had a many steaks from steakhouses and this one by far is just flat out delicious. From the appetizers to the entree, and even the cocktails! 5 star! Come early because parking is tight! Other than that, it was worth the money and time-and we didn't have to dress up! We will be back.

$200 for my wife and I to share a ribeye which their knife could hardly cut & (1) side. Steak was Way too tough. The taste was ok - but the texture (medium rare) was horribly hard to chew, etc My wife enjoyed her side order of fried asparagus, with some type of crab topping.

Emily, our server was great! I ordered the 10oz filet and I got the end of the tenderloin which has silver skin and connective tissue in it. As a result my filet was not as tender as I expect. Also, I ordered medium-rare and received rare. Had to send it back to the kitchen. and of course it came back medium and in some areas of the filet it came back well don't the chef needs to trim this area off and use it for something else like mince. tamales were good!
