Really hope it is only temporarily closed because my absolute favorite place in BR. Staff has always been friendly and food was great with pretty large portions.

Great service! Great atmosphere. Disappointed in the food-had fajitas that had the texture of being reheated and NO FLAVOR on anything: rice, beans, meat. The guacamole tasted like lime salad dressing-way too much lime.

I visited Don Jose on a Wednesday night alone. I liked the atmosphere very much. The chairs are interesting! I was happy to see pork skins on the menu as an option instead of chips, so I ordered them! I got them with the queso which was delicious! I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and was disappointed in the amount of meat on the skillet - it wasn’t much. I get them without ride, beans, and tortillas (low carb) and I wasn’t very full after eating them. They were pretty tasty but the steak was a little tough. The guacamole was delicious. I was disappointed that there was no shredded cheese that cake with the fajitas, but, queso to the rescue! I never got my drink (water) and had to ask for it after my fajitas came (after I had been eating my appetizer for a while), but the server was nice. Overall it was pretty good and I will likely return.

Ate here today and really loved it. Food was delicious, waitress got everything right and she was very sweet. I will definitely be back.

Place was furnished very nicely and is extremely large inside. Our waitress had 2 nose rings (pieces) that dangled and we could not stop looking at them, kind of looked like boogers hanging... Ordered the cheese and onion enchalidas and they charged extra for the onions. Ordered the spinach and mushroom quesadillas and they charged extra for the mushrooms! Asked for a menu to go and was told "they were out and had been out for a while." Not the worst or the best but for the price we expected better,

Love this place but my Only complaint is the high prices on queso and guacamole. . You get a 6oz quac for 4.50. I love the place but can't spend that much money for a tablespoon of guacamole or queso.

Good food! Excellent margaritas! Little disappointed in our waitress, she didn't act like she wanted to be there. Service was acceptable.

Slow service but not the fault of server. Only 2 servers & 1 bartender taking care of entire restaurant with a packed house. Throughout our entire time there, not one manager was ever seen to help servers or bartender. Food was not very good and presentation was even worse. Have been to the Kenner store before so we expected a better experience than we had. Very disappointed. Your management staff should have responded to being short-staffed early in the shift and made adjustments and/or assisted by backing up the staff, (seating, delivering drinks, delivering food, cleaning tables, checking on tables, anything to improve service to the guests).

Good Mexican.. great atmosphere! Every place that has ever been in this location has failed so I hope Baton Rouge keeps this one alive.. the bar is cool, lots of seating and friendly wait staff! If you line Mexican then come check it out for sure!

Good food and service is always good here. Much better than many other Mexican restaurants in town. Sometimes they'll even have live music which is a nice touch.

Always fast and friendly service! Always a good experience, especially if you catch the occasional live music!
