I would not recommend hosting a birthday dinner here. The limited menu provided, include menu items I believe the restaurant is not known for or good at. The Étouffée came out watery, the shrimp and grits had white gravy and looked like mash potatoes. The waitresses seemed very confused. Everyone sent their food back. The appetizer were way better. The salad and shrimp/green fried tomatoes. Why would items like oysters not be allowed to order, on a slow night while others were able to order oysters at Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar.

The drinks and Aesthetics are nice.

Do not - I repeat - do not ! Order the hearty comfort food !

Don’t waste your time or money! They were out of almost everything and what they did have was awful, mushy shrimp and the catfish tasted like straight dirt. The Jolie oysters were so small I could barely get anything out of the shell. The service was not great either. This place was recommended and we should have passed!!

I’m going to preface this by saying, this is in no way trying to slander this establishment. There are some good people who do work there, HOWEVER. Leaving raw oysters out by a grill for their grilled oysters, is quite possibly the most dangerous thing I’ve ever witnessed. The shrimp, the oysters, the crawfish, and catfish are not store properly, their cooks do not have the necessary skills or tools to properly prepare, and cook their food. Please, do not make the mistake of going to this establishment thinking this will be a pleasant experience.

Genuinely the worst meal and the worst service I've ever experienced. Oysters were unshucked, filled with shell, and totally flavorless. Shrimp was cold and chewy. We had to share water because no one would serve us. The server and manager were both nasty. We waited 40 minutes for a check and then we're charged incorrectly and had to go back in to try and get it fixed. I saw other people saying how confused they were that this place hadn't closed down yet and I totally agree.

Our party of 4 went on an early Saturday evening before a show. There was only a few tables when we arrived. Our service was beyond slow. I can honestly say, I don’t think the oysters are fresh shucked. If you do order oysters, stick with the chargrilled to be safe. I wanted the grilled gulf fish but they were sold out even though it wasn’t even 6:00pm yet. We ended up ordering the boiled shrimp instead. Unfortunately, we couldn’t eat them. They smelled bad. The waitress did take them off the order. My husband’s burger took 45 minutes to arrive to the table. This place needs better management, training, service and food.

Great location and service but the oysters are horrible. We had the ones with seafood cornbread and there's no flavor or moisture in that ball of bread. Hollandaise does nothing for it; there's no crawfish meat or flavor. Every layer of this was terrible. We had 12 and it was a grave mistake. It became a challenge to finish. I usually love oysters but this was a plate worthy of Fear Factor. Unappetizing is an understatement. I've never made such a poor choice with $33. Do not get the BAYOU OYSTERS. Bathroom was clean!

Only one other table in there at lunch. Service unbelievable slow and terrible. Food awful. Boiled shrimp slimy and bad. Took 45 min to get Brie and bacon shrimp. Took 20 min to get a coke. Server was in no hurry at all whatsoever. Dana, do better.

I’m surprised this location hasn’t been closed down already. We had one of the worst experiences in both missing food and missing service that left my entire group hungry and embarrassed for Jolie Pearl.

We had a group of 6 on a Saturday at 11:30, where we entered an almost empty restaurant. The second dining room still had chairs on top of the tables, so we sat in the only open section by the oyster bar. Not a very inviting atmosphere. Evidently they were facing a severe staffing issue because after almost half an hour passes after taking our orders, no food was coming out and our server went MIA.

We can hear a kitchen staff tell our server when she finally does come out the back that some oysters weren’t available, so the first item that came out of the kitchen were samplers of different hot oysters with some of them missing. I asked about the missing items, and it appeared she didn’t notice. They waited for us to notice before making any attempt to remedy it, which they chose to offer us only basic chargrilled oysters instead of letting us pick from the menu.

The next food to come out were the raw oysters, about 40 minutes into service. As you may notice from the pictures included, they had been sitting so long in the kitchen that the ice had melted. I started to be concerned for food safety, when I noticed some of the oysters on the bar also were barely touching ice. They had neglected to maintain the items on ice as the hot summer rays beat down on them from the entrance.

Apparently, they didn’t have oyster shuckers on deck that day and were trying to make do with two kitchen staff screaming explicatives in the back.

We ordered some of each of the special raw varieties to try, and when I asked them if they could identify which is which, they had no idea. They sent someone over who read out the descriptions for us kindly, but just guessed alongside us which ones were which because the person who shucked them did not know. One of the special raw oysters tasted rotten and made both of the people at the table who tried it spit it back out.

At the one hour mark, only a side salad and a cup of soup comes out of the kitchen, which at this point, we had had enough. Someone from our group had to wait by the kitchen door and ask for someone to make the situation right, when we were told no manager was on-site. She was at another restaurant nearby, so we had to wait for her to come in order to help alleviate our situation.

When the manager finally does show up, she charges us for the few oysters we consumed and did not offer to comp the meal. It was about $80 for a combination of hot and cold specialty oysters. They also left a $330 hold for the entirety of the check for the food we did not receive on our friend’s credit card, which made us uncomfortable to leave a review the moment it happened.

Overall, Jolie Pearl failed on all metrics to provide a good dining experience for our group, and when presented an opportunity to make it right, missed their mark. Missing, rotten, and misidentified oysters defined Jolie Pearl’s food that day. Missing staff and careless servers defined their service that day. A hostile kitchen and uncaring manager defined an unwelcome atmosphere.

Right before leaving, I noticed a group of 3 who came into the restaurant after us getting their entrees before us, which really added salt to the wound that was our experience here at Jolie Pearl.

No intention of coming back. It should have been closed that day, and perhaps for good.
