Stopped by this coffee shop in Baton Rouge while driving back from New Orleans. It’s a solid stop if you’re looking for strong, good-quality coffee. The bakery selection was pretty limited, and the items on display didn’t look very fresh. That said, it’s still a good place to grab a coffee on the road. They also offer a few tea options, including Masala Chai, which was nice to see.

It took 25 minutes to cook bacon, eggs and pancakes. I had to remind them I bought a croissant also. I asked for butter and it was rock hard almost frozen. We won’t be back.

Update!
Owner reached out to address the below. This is a sign of a great business!

On Monday, November 24th, about 30 minutes before close (around 8 PM), the staff had already fully cleaned the restaurant. The only thing they were willing to serve was gelato. I had hoped to get an espresso for my drive back to NOLA, but it wasn’t a big issue.
What prompted me to write this review was what happened next. As we sat outside enjoying the gelato we were lucky to purchase, a young couple with their 2-year-old walked in at 7:45 PM and politely asked if they could get gelato. The staff turned them away.

The OPEN sign was on and lit, and there was no clear reason to refuse them service.

I hope this feedback is helpful to the owners.

I frequent La Davina quite often and they never disappoint. I consider myself a bit of a grits connoisseur and the Italian grits are absolutely delicious. Melanie is the chief grits engineer. They are so good you may very well kiss her rather than her grits!

great cafe for all options. offers a wide variety of food, treats, (gelato, baked goods) cocktails, wine, and espresso. La Divina makes the best latte in town with choice espresso and rich Feliciana's Best Creamery milk.
Mel has cooked here for years serving up premium cafe italia options. this is an excellent place for those who like to be familiar with the people who prepare their food

My experience here was so disappointing. When I saw that there was an Italian cafe, I went in expecting to be able to get some dessert with gelato, like maybe a waffle, crepe, or tiramisu. There was gelato but none of the other desserts I hoped for. The restaurant was dark and sparse. There were some sad pastries on display.

They didn’t have any hazelnut-type gelato flavors. The cappuccino flavor one tasted okay, but the cone that I got it on was stale.
