I’m so glad we tried this restaurant on our way home from New Orleans. The food was delicious. My favorite was the cauliflower wrap and cupcake.
Great concept, although I ordered the vegan torta what I got was a pita wrap with Mexican ingredients. It was delicious but not what I expected. The kale salad was not dressed, I found a pool under giant pieces of kale with stems. the toppings were very good— carrot bacon especially. The place was nice but because they were understaffed not as clean as it could be. The service was the best part. The blue and pink bathrooms were charming.
Top local place to go for gluten free and vegan!
Inviting atmosphere and tasty lunch! This vegan restaurant has options for everyone, including non-vegan meals. I enjoyed the beverage menu as well- a refreshing panini and prosecco? Yes please!
Just left here got a cauli wrap and my husband said no onions they told him they would remake it when we picked up our re order the wrap wasn't redid the onions were picked off and onions were still on it the wrap was cold and bags were soggy !
Excellent food in a quaint cafe atmosphere. I had the BBQ pita pizza and black bean torta. Both were very flavorful.
Vegetation menu with everything being able to be made vegan.
Delicious brunch! I got the biscuits and gravy and friend got the quesadilla. Very filling! 4 starts only because it’s not fully vegan (has real dairy options)
Good vegan food. Great environment.

Tried MJ's cafe for the first time today. The place is a vibe. Beautifully painted from the outside with colorful vegetables that look inviting and refreshing are sprawled across the large picture windows at the front of the building. The sign outside is faded and we almost missed it driving by twice. Parking is around back.
The back entrance sports several pots of lovely purple flowers. A brighter, more colorful sign invites you into the restaurant. A faded, albeit, still cute photo op of butterfly wings is right outside the back entrance.
Inside is spacious and bright, funky and chill all at once. Oddly calming. We scooped up a table and we're immediately and cheerfully greeted by an employee.
For lunch, I opted to try the cauliflower soup. The soups are du jour, and I neglected to ask if it was made with vegan mayo, and it did come with a sauce. They very politely exchanged it for me. The soup was warm and comforting. Next time, I will ask for no parmesean extra extra red pepper flakes as they just made the soup pop with a burst of spicy flavor. The hot sauce really rounded it out. A nice and comforting cup of yummy goodness.
I also tried the avocado toast with coconut bacon and pickled onions. Absolutely scrumptious. The coconut bacon didn't taste very smokey but was light and crisp and enjoyable. I didn't care for the oil drizzled on the plate, but the rest of it was amazing. Best part was the sweet serenade from a kitchen full of employees milling about and enjoying life, the universe and everything. Cheerful and uplifting environment. I recommend everyone (even meat eaters like me!) to pop in. They will absolutely surprise you!
Vegetarian options: Most items are vegetarian or vegan. I did see a shrimp offering.

I recently visited Baton Rouge and stumbled upon MJ’s Cafe while searching for a vegan restaurant to accommodate my dairy allergy. I found them online and frankly I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly blown away by the experience.
I ordered the buffalo cauliflower wrap, the special quesadilla, and a soup that was out of this world. Each dish was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. It's hands down the best vegan food I have ever had.
While I did not dine in only picked up. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience enjoyable. MJ’s Cafe has set a new standard for vegan cuisine in my book. Highly recommend!

I’ve came here a few times to pick up food I’ve ordered before coming which was a pleasant experience BUT today I decided to come with my husband so that we can dine in and so he can try it for the first time .
Well we were greeted when we walked in but ultimately was looked over after .
We sat at the counter waiting for someone to take our order while watching the guy waiter walk to other tables and passing us up several times .
I still waited thinking they were there before us . Shortly after there were customers who came in and waited to order take out . The guy waiter decided to sit down and take their order and never came back to us .
There was a nice lady waiter who came to give us water at least until she finished serving the table that was there before us . Which I greatly appreciated. What my husband and I didn’t like was the blatant ignorance of the guy waiter who literally chose to not wait us .
I’m a chef that gives reviews all the time and when I see things like this , it always seems to amaze me because word of mouth is always your biggest advertisement . You never know who comes into your establishment so the best thing to do is to treat EVERYONE the same . I won’t be back simply due to not feeling welcomed .

Very nice little cafe, with excellent lunch and breakfast options. The sandwiches are a good size, and the soup was very good. The gluten-free cookies are very tasty, almost like a hand sized cake. There is parking in the back. Tables are far apart and it's a nice open space. The staff was super friendly and courteous.
Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options
