Absolutely the worst pickup experience ever. Almost an hour for a call in order, then they have my food to the wrong person in front of me. They provided no communication, just mumbles and complained about being short handed. Hands down, the WORST Popeyes experience yet! Our family has been a loyal Sunday Popeyes lover for decades. No LONGER!!

The food was delicious, but the service was not so great. It took a long time to order since we could not hear anything the drive-thru employee was saying. We pulled up to the window, and got half of our order, and someone else's order too! Maybe it was just the time of day we went. The food was awesome as always though!!

2/1/2020 Possibly the worse Popeye's in BR. Came in and no one working the register. After listening to 5 minutes of staff arguing with both each other and a customer out front, it devolved into them insulting each other with profanity. The angry patron left and still no worker would man the register and take orders. I waited a few more minutes and left. Horrible staff. And people wonder why all fast food workers will be replaced by a simple customer touch screen -- and not before time too.

This store is usually out of white-spicy, requiring a 12-15 minute wait to get what I might order. Then, more than half the time, something is left out of the bag, or the wrong order is in the bag. I have learned to check my orders before I leave. I go to this location only because it is convenient. Unlike other Popeyes locations, this store keeps its music tuned to hip-hop channels. It has a high turnover in managers, and with few exceptions, the counter personnel seem disinterested, and are frequently inarticulate. You have to work hard to leave with what you came in to get.

Today I so happened to be running errands on my lunch break and remembered my sweet customer Ms.Jones gave me a 25% off coupon for lunch. The atmosphere felt like home and the food was cooked with love! Everyone was happy and smiling and made me feel like a valuable customer! I will definitely tell everyone about my new secret spot Russel J's Kitchen ! It's a quick right turn on Government St. So Slow down and stop in to enjoy their delicious food !

This was my first time. It was quiet, with a few patrons. I ordered a fish plate with fries and peas, and a dressed fish poboy with fries, to go. My mom enjoyed the poboy, which was dressed with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo and ketchup, and she was full!! The fish plate came with four large strips, along with the sides and a cornbread muffin. It was satisfying and filling. Thank you!

Absolutely the best fried chicken I've had. Just like home made. The gravy is also delicious and goes well on everything. They also have fried fish and poboys I'm hoping to try soon. Definitely try this place!

Standard breakfast and cheap! Don't expect ambiance, real plates, forks etc. Suggestion: turn the lights on and play music.

Breakfast was good cheap and quick and they have community coffee. Buffet is here but not used for breakfast at this time. This place should have more business.

Russell J's just opened for lunch a few week ago with a choice of 3-5 mains and several sides plus a special of the day. Today's options were fried chicken, fried catfish, lasagna, and red beans and rice. The choices for sides included yams, corn, green beans, and cabbage. The lunch plate was under ten dollars for a main, two sides, a corn muffin, and iced tea. Some of the best fried chicken I've had in Baton Rouge. Overall, a large portion of good food for a great price. Also open for breakfast.

I've eaten here twice now and the first time right after they opened it was just okay. This time it was so much better and chicken was amazing. I got the fried chicken and friend got the lasagna special. Both were excellent! My friend has been for breakfast and said the grits were great as well. This is a very simple, authentic southern diner. It was very busy this last time. I will eat many lunches here, loved the place.

I grew up on Popeye's. Thankfully not from this location. Over the past four months I have tried to order here five times. Four of those visits I was told they were completely out of white meat chicken. Not that it wasn't ready and I would have to wait, they were OUT, none in the store, zero, zip, nada. For a restaurant to be out of the item they are famous for is just plain ridiculous. The attitude of the staff was just about as bad, they even suggested that I find a different restaurant if I would not settle for dark meat chicken. Avoid this location and find one that is professionally run and actually cares about the customer.

Delicious country food. The friend chicken is amazing! The hamburger stake with gravy was also very good, as was the mashed potatoes with gravy. Can't wait to try the fish and the sausage. Very friendly service, family owned so it's good southern hospitality.
