My husband and I ate here about a year ago, and the food was good. Which is the reason I didn’t give one star. However, my family and I were looking for a place that served charbroiled oysters in celebration of my grandson’s 21st birthday. I called the restaurant on Saturday just to make sure they could accommodate a party of 14. The young man said it shouldn’t be a problem, although they do not take reservations. On Sunday afternoon about 6:00 I called again just to see how busy they were and to once again mention we had a party of 14, celebrating our grandson’s 21st birthday. The girl asked me “ how many” once again, and I explained the occasion and how many. She then stated “did the person you spoke to tell you that we don’t allow decorations or cakes?” I said we have no decorations, but we do have a special order ice cream cake. She once again stated “we don’t allow cakes, no outside food!” I explained it was only a small cake, she once again stated their no food policy. After a short pause, I thanked her and hung up! I proceeded to call Mike Andersons in Prairieville, who not only welcomed a party of 14, along with our cake, but told me we could come in and get our name down, to keep from having such a long wait. We were seated in a large room, at a long table for 14! I would think in todays economy, a restaurant would bend over backwards to keep from missing out on a $700 ticket, and losing a customer in the process.

I had dined here with my date. I had a seafood pasta. The shrimp were not properly deveined, there were a few shells, and it lacked flavor. The presentation was nice. The server was knowledgeable and made lots of eye contact. I would dine here again, but definitely would try something else.

I came for a quick drink and sat at the bar. Asia was great. She talked me into trying their banana foster old fashion and the top shelf margarita. She had great conversation and I also ended up trying their oysters, which were amazing. If you go ask for Asia! She’s their best bartender.

This place was a great scenery, but the workers & guest looked us like we weren’t supposed to be here food was good the waiter messed up the party guest orders, I love food but this isn’t a place I would return to, I hate feeling like I’m in the wrong place when Brown ppl spend good money

My family and I celebrated a birthday here about two weeks ago! The food was delicious and has a taste unlike any other restaurant in Baton Rouge! We had the Redfish Orleans, Seafood Pasta and Ribeye. As well, our server Rachel (Rae W) provided phenomenal service from beginning to end! She is one of a kind: super sweet, polite, welcoming and very knowledgeable on the menu! We cannot wait to come back to enjoy the wonderful ambiance, magnificent food and outstanding service! Thank you Southern Pearl Oyster House and Rae W for helping make our birthday celebration one to remember!

Love southern pearl but my last experience wasn’t good whatsoever. That king cake martini was horrible and wouldn’t recommend. The gumbo was very bland and didn’t taste good at all. Also, my server didn’t check up on us majority of the time and also was smelling like cigarettes which was very unprofessional! I was out of water and had to ask him for a refill and usually the server gives you a refill soon as they notice your low. Good restaurant but this time was a big no for me.

Food was great! Rae on service was exceptional! She was polite, knew the menu and made great suggestions! They oyster were perfect! Food was timely but Rae made the experience more than worthwhile. Be sure to request Rae when you visit! The redfish Royal or Orleans are delicious.
Went to meet friends for lunch, it was fantastic. The food had a beautiful presentation but better than that, it was delicious. We have been here often and have never been disappointed, staff so friendly and although we had a fairly new waiter, he was very attentive and hostess came over also to make sure everything was okay! Seems they take care of each other so service is always excellent!Parking: Good parking, just get there early, parking lot gets filled but, you can always find a parking spot, just May have to walk a little, it’s worth it!
