We walked to this place yesterday morning only to find a sign in the window that they no longer are open to the public. The sign said they only do catering. I wish they would update there listing on Yelp to reflect this.

Strands Cafe is the perfect place to stop in for a sandwich, a pastry, or some coffee. When I went there I enjoyed a wonderful linzer cookie and a deliciously smooth and creamy latte. The cookie had local, ground pecans in the dough and was completely Legit! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming; the staff is helpful and friendly :-) My only regret - when I went in the first time it was too early for me to try their crab cake sandwich, which sounds completely amazing! I guess I'm just gonna have to go back :-)

Strands is a gem in Baton Rouge. Everything (or almost everything) is made from scratch, the pastries are excellent, the sizes are super big, and it is so delicious. The chef makes the butter from scratch, as well as all the cream and dressings. There are many options and the staff is wonderful! Super sweet and ready to serve and give you a friendly smile. The place is kids friendly and lately they had a few different options for lunch. Saturday mornings tend to have a little more people than during the week, but the place is quite enough that you can seat down and have a good talk with a friend, or enjoy time with a group of friends, family or even a casual business meeting. In food, quality, concept and how friendly the staff is I give a 5 star review. Though, in the past, the schedules have been a little bit inconsistent, hopefully, from now on we will have more open hours to enjoy this wonderful place!!!! This is a real gem!!!
