Sadly, I have to give Sushi Yama a poor rating. This used to be, by far, the best sushi place in town. I haven't visited in over a year and decided to treat myself for lunch today. I got my favorites: the sashimi seaweed salad and a kani naruto. The salad seemed more vinegary than I remembered, the naruto didn't feel cold, and the texture of the fish was... off - softer than it should be.I chalked it up to a bad day and ate my $50 lunch... but 30 minutes later, I had to pull over at the nearest coffee shop to use their restroom. Then again, 30 minutes after that. I'll spare you the gory details, but suffice to say I'm fighting an internal war and praying the Imodium kicks in soon. I don't have the words to express my disappointment at how far this once great spot has fallen. Shame on whoever's running the place now for killing something beautiful.

The food is ok. It’s not bad sushi, but it’s not knock-your-socks-off sushi either. I’ve been here 2-3 times, and the servers are nice. You’ll have to flag them down for anything you may need, because they don’t come around often enough, however, they are pleasant.

We love Sushi Yama. We crave this place & make a point to visit each time we are in town. But I've never experienced what I did this evening. The owner clearly doesn't allow his employees to make decisions. We came in with a party of 8 & the owner had his hostess skip over our party multiple times. I understand 8 is a large party here, but we were even willing to split into 2 smaller parties of 4. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait, which was odd because they had 6 free tables. We then proceeded to watch them fill the entire restaurant while the owner stared at me behind the bar. Painful experience and hope the owner is more accommodating next time for his patrons.

Great place with delicious sushi. As others have noted, there's a free little cucumber vinegar salad to start and pineapple triangles at the end. Service was very nice. Ample parking. I ordered a tuna appetizer as my entree and will say I expected more for $34. Overall I would return and order rolls instead.
I don't eat sushi, and I still enjoy this place. My friends and family obviously love sushi and love Sushi Yama, so I tag along. Their teriyaki chicken is delicious served with a lot of fresh grilled vegetables. It is a very generous serving, enough for me to eat two meals off of it and for a good price! The service is always good and the wait staff is quick and attentive!

Staff were very friendly. Our server, Lizzie, was awesome, very kind and attentive. They brought cheater chops out for my kids. Sushi is COLD and fresh tasting. Calamari was great. Burrito roll and Salmon Avocado roll were wonderful! I have to admit the Burrito was miniature. Like I almost laughed at how cute it was lol 6 bites for a small mouthed person. Delightful and will return!Parking: Parking right in front of the door.Kid-friendliness: They have cheater chops and accommodated requests for kids.

On the house they give a cucumber salad per person and after your meal cut up pineapple. We got the tuna Tataki appetizer, it was super fresh and filling. Can def be split between two people easily. The two rolls got were the Rock n Roll and V roll. Both fresh and packed! One roll can be split between two people. We left supppper full. 10/10 food and service!!!!

My mother and I had sashimi bento lunches and my mother's friend had a nigiri bento lunch - the fish was amazingly fresh and the tempura shrimp was crispy deliciousness. We enjoyed everything in our meal and our server did a great job taking care of us. We want to come back and have the same bentos again. Everything was so, so good.
