The Chimes Reviews
Big shoutout to our amazing waitress Grace! 🙌 She was super sweet, attentive, and made sure everything about our evening was perfect from start to finish. Her energy and kindness made the whole experience so much better — you can tell she truly cares about her guests 💛. If you go, definitely ask for Grace — she’s the best! 👏🍽️✨
We ate there today and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Only one criticism I had the shrimp and grits and would have been awesome had they only had about half the salt in the dish. Was too salty for me.
The reason I DO recommend The Chimes is the food*
However, the state of cleanliness was lacking, to say the least! The floors were greasy and in great need of the attention of a mop. The elevator to the second was gross and the first floor men’s room was an absolute horror show.
*Which brings me back to the food. While quite delicious and authentic, based on my experience, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like!

The Chimes is a restaurant that offers a variety of tasty dishes and a friendly atmosphere. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a suitable location for large parties and family gatherings. The menu includes appetizers, salads, main courses, and desserts. Standout dishes include the grilled alligator, catfish with crawfish etouffee, pork scallopini, and white chocolate bread pudding. The restaurant is known for its friendly staff, especially the waitstaff who are attentive and genuinely care about guests. Customers have praised the food, with some dishes like pork scallopini and crawfish Mac-n-cheese being described as phenomenal. The bar area is a popular spot to catch a baseball game or watch the local Louisiana State University team play.
However, some visitors have noted issues with cleanliness, mentioning greasy floors, a gross elevator, and a very dirty men’s room. One guest also found the shrimp and grits too salty, but still recommends the restaurant for its food. During busy times, such as with large groups, service can become flustered, but staff remain patient and helpful with questions about the menu. The restaurant has parking available in the back and along the street, though guests should be aware of no parking signs. Overall, The Chimes is a family-friendly place to enjoy delicious food and a casual dining experience.
