We discovered this culinary treasure, recently opened, and decided to take a chance on something new. It was fabulous! ❤️?All of the food is plant based with elegant presentation and excellent flavor! We had the roasted Maitake mushroom dish with Gouda polanta and the lentil loaf with maple sauce and sweet potato cranberry mash. We started with a flight of fancy “cheeses” sampler with paired white wines, and an Italian flatbread appetizer topped with cashew cheese. It was all delicious! The decor is exquisite- think of a fancy French restaurant- with great attention to detail. Gold silverware and accent pieces, fresh flowers, festive spring decorations, folded cloth napkins and fancy goblets, with a large tree in the middle of the room! This dinner was truly a delightful treat for the senses! ??Vegetarian options: Food is 100%plant based and is delicious!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free optionsMenu is dairy free- cheeses are all nut based. Not suitable for people with nut allergies

My friend and I were on our way to another restaurant when we saw this one. We were intrigued by it being clean food and wanted to try it. I had the cheese assortment and the squash soup. Each bite felt dreamy and i fully savored it. The food had the texture and distinct rich flavors of a five star NOLA restaurant. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the staff (SUPER wonderful staff), and the food was outstanding. What a delight to find vegan fine dining in Baton Rouge. They also have a monthly tea which we plan to go to. Great job!!!

I've had takeout and lunch and both were excellent. I hope to return soon for an afternoon tea. The BBQ jackfruit, buffalo maitake, brussel sprouts, and cauliflower poppers never miss!

I have visited The Plantry Cafe for lunch and dinner and both experiences have exceeded my expectations. From the whimsical ambience, quality of the food, and the overall attention to detail, this is a restaurant you don't want to miss! Yes, some may consider the menu items to be pricey, but you're paying for top-notch ingredients that are both delicious and sourced from trustworthy partners. One of my favorite aspects about this restaurant is how personable and passionate the owner is about her food and staff. Not only does she introduce herself to her diners, but she's willing to provide a thorough answer to any questions you may have. I will definitely return to one of my new favorite places in town & continue to spread the word!

OBSESSED with the environment!!! Our service was perfect! The food was good. We got the French toast/banana dessert to go($18) and it was disappointing. I wish they’d not show that they charge $1 each for tap water, and a 2% fee for using a credit card. Just add it into the food so it doesn’t feel nickel and dimed. I think this place willContinue to improve because you can see the love and attention given to every detail. Please try out this unique eatery!!!

We went to a date night with my husband on Valentine's Day for the first time. We were quite excited to try their vegan options as a couple who tried to cook vegan meals at home for ourselves. Atmosphere and decoration was cozy and smartly designed. It looked like processionally designed. It was a busy night and they offered 3 or 6 courses meal options. We picked the 3 courses option with vine pairing added.Because the 6 courses option was basically the same with an additional cheese plate and another desert.Anyways after waiting quite a bit which is not a problem at all since we were enjoying a night out anyways, we finally started to get the meals started to be served. We were very excited to try as much as we can so we ordered all of the options and shared to taste them allUnfortunately food was really average.Risotto, mushroom with grit, soup and salad were ok but nothing special at all.I am really sorry to write this since I think they have an amazing opportunity here and obviously have a potential. We will definitely come back and try different dishes and hope tonight was an exception due to being a very busy Valentine’s Day :) we wish you guys the best of luck since we would love to have an option like you in this town.

I wanted this place to work out badly, especially since it’s vegan! But tonight was a very unacceptable situation. We had reservations well in advance but we were not greeted by our server until 1 hour after our reservation. We waited another 20 minutes and still never got our wine. Then we started to see people getting their food before us. The menu was prefixed so that was unacceptable. I don’t want to give bad reviews and I would be willing to revise this review but I don’t see anything coming out of this. I hope the owner, kitchen and staff learn from this experience since we weren’t the only ones that had to endure very poor service. Luckily the best Albasha in Baton Rouge was next door.

We recently visited Plantry Cafe for dinner and came away with mixed feelings. The ambiance was certainly lovely, with warm lighting and cozy decor creating a pleasant atmosphere. However, our overall experience was unfortunately impacted by significant wait times and some major service hiccups. Upon arrival at 6:15 PM, we waited close to an hour for our initial drinks. While the cocktails themselves were tasty, their prices felt quite high, especially considering the lack of detailed descriptions from our waitress. Unfortunately, she even seemed unsure of the ingredients in the featured cocktails for the evening. The restaurant was operating with a set menu on this particular night. While some dishes like the cheese sampler plate and the white & dark chocolate cherry cheesecake were quite good, others were more average. Unfortunately, service attentiveness wasn't consistent throughout the evening. We needed to flag down our waitress on several occasions for additional service, including water refills. During our time there, we witnessed several other parties become visibly frustrated with wait times, with at least three couples ultimately leaving before being seated or served. It's understandable that staffing shortages can occur, and we appreciate the challenges this can present. However, a simple notification upon arrival about potential delays due to staffing issues would have managed expectations and set a more positive tone for the evening. Perhaps, in such situations, offering a slightly reduced menu could also help streamline service and improve efficiency. Overall, while the ambiance at Plantry Cafe was undeniably charming and some dishes were enjoyable, the significant wait times and inconsistent service unfortunately detracted from the overall experience. With better communication and management of wait times, this restaurant could certainly improve its ability to deliver a truly positive dining experience for all guests.

I visited the Plantry Cafe twice for lunch in the past week, each time with a different friend. The owner, Dr. Katie Crifasi, welcomed us both times and chatted with us about the food. The restaurant decor is very elegant and the food was extremely well prepared and innovative. Their plant-based menu is not your basic steamed veggies. Menu items we tried were the beet burger, mushroom soup, and sweet potato soup. Since we were splitting the beet burger entree, our server made us each a beet slider. The burger appeared to be made of grilled shredded beets on a pretzel bun with cole slaw. Very tasty! Both of the soups were delicious. They were creamy, with interesting texture and flavors. The mushroom soup was packed with mushrooms. The sweet potato soup was seasoned with maple syrup, cardamom, and topped with candied pecans. On our first visit, I was discussing a very good non-alcoholic sparking rose that I had recently tried. The owner brought out a bottle of red wine from the same German vintner and asked if we wanted to sample it. All three of us agreed it was not that good. So Dr. Crifasi took it behind the bar and came back a few minutes later with glasses of a sangria-like drink she had concocted with the wine. It was delicious, and she did not charge us for it. Our servers were attentive and helpful. The restaurant also offers Sunday brunch and high tea. There are two separate areas where groups can be seated for business or social occasions. Note that the Cafe adds a 20 percent gratuity to all checks, regardless of the number of people or the amount of the check.
