Tokyo Cafe is my favorite sushi restaurant. Their sushi is fresh and the best price. I often pick up a salmon and avocado roll which is larger than other restaurants and my total is $5.95. They know me by name and have had the same owners working for over 15 years.

Pissed to the high heavens , go in Saturday Night eat and pay decided to leave the tip in cash and the waiter charged me gratuity on my debit card as well. Giving himself a $40 tip total, the nerve !!!!!! No sir, you only brought us drinks we had to get the rest from the Chef you were not worth $40 , you can’t even trust people anyone , livid and
will not be eating here again !!!!!!!!

I normally am a regular here. So I’m not going to leave a bad rating. Ate last night, was so surprised with the service, I left. he was rushing the heck out of us. It was no where near closing time, couldn’t even really sit and enjoy my meal with my friend.

Disappointing Hibachi Experience
I used to love eating at Tokyo Cafe, but my recent visit after church proved to be a disappointing and costly experience. For an $80 meal, the quality was surprisingly poor, and it's clear things have changed.
I ordered the hibachi steak and scallops with fried rice, while my wife had the steak and shrimp with fried rice. The most significant issue was the steak; it smelled and tasted off, to the point that my wife could not eat it. The side dishes were equally uninspired. The noodles were bland, comparable to plain spaghetti, and the vegetables were just okay.
For the price, we expected a much higher quality of food. It's a shame to see a place I once enjoyed deliver such a subpar meal. Based on this experience, we won't be returning.

Dishonest Charges and Disrespectful Management

I will not be returning.

An 18% gratuity was automatically added to my bill because I had my small child with me—who was simply eating off my plate. The server specifically asked if I wanted to pay extra for a shared plate or let her eat from mine. I chose to share, not expecting that would count as a second diner.

Nowhere was this automatic charge posted—no signage, no menu notice, no verbal warning. When I brought it up, the manager was dismissive, claimed it’s been “policy for 3–4 years,” and flat-out refused to remove it. That’s a lie. I’ve dined here several times over the past year and this has *never* happened before.

This practice is deceptive and feels like a deliberate attempt to take advantage of customers. Refusing to acknowledge or correct the issue shows a total lack of integrity and basic customer respect.

Shame on this establishment for hiding fees and treating loyal patrons this way. Check your bill—and consider spending your money elsewhere.

Ok so I went to the sushi side, can’t speak for hibachi. With this in mind this place is good for there price on menu but was a lil bland, so what, good price decent food I recommend if your ordering take out, but this is where I disagree with the restaurant, 18% gratuity for jus me and my gf. 2 ppl, I understand and respect that a tip is how servers get by and I respect that, but 18% for the service I had was insane if I could I would have gave 10 wich is fair bc I’m a college student and it was subpar service. Just drop the gratuity to 8% and then if u want u can tip more.

We went in close to closing and was still served quickly. The waiter was very nice and made sure to always check in if we needed anything. The atmosphere is so beautiful!

Went to this restaurant 5/31 and I will never ever go again! The food was great, but I was so upset to find out when it was time to pay the bill that they charge 18% gratuity for 2 people!!!! And guess where it’s posted? At the bottom of the menu in very small writing. One and done for me.

I went there today and the rolls I had made me sick to my stomach and were falling apart. I originally wanted to get hibachi, so I said dine in, thinking we could order whatever we wanted. The hostess/waitress said that we could only get hibachi if we sat in a certain place, where there was a wait by at least 15 minutes. At the end I looked at the bill and they charged us gratuity without letting us know either verbally, on the menu, or signage, by 15% of the bill. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant for the sushi or the service.
