Food was not good. Restaurant is very nice and leaves a lot to be desired for. Unfortunately, the sushi was terrible. The rice was overcooked and snow crab tasted weird. Also, the restaurant was about 20% full and still took a long time to get our food. Not worth the price paid and not planning on returning with so many other restaurants in the area that serve better sushi.

The food is great but the kitchen is a slow. The layout is nice with a good vibe.
We had a great waiter (Ian) who took good care, knew the menu and gave recs on food and drink.

We had a really terrible, bizarre experience here last night. We sat in the back room which may have been the problem? We first noticed the really bright overhead lights, the loud acoustics in the room, and the table lamps were turned off. We ordered 2 rolls to start and they took about 45 minutes to come out. While we were waiting, we went ahead and ordered 3 small plates because we figured that would take awhile (although there was no one else sitting in the room so the restaurant definitely did not seem particularly busy). When we first sat down, the server said their restaurant was different from others because you could get fried rice with anything. However when my husband asked if he could have fried rice with his chicken, the server said no. Weird. The sushi tasted pretty good, although the black and gold roll was falling apart and hard to eat. Then we waited about 45 minutes for the small plates to come out. Finally two of them come out without utensils. A few minutes later, the last one comes out with forks! The beef on the fried rice looked old, grey, and cold so we asked if we could get a plain fried rice with no meat and to bring the check. The chicken, salmon, and vegetables were cold. We waited about 20 minutes but the fried rice never came out and neither did the check. At this point we were angry and hungry, as it had been 2 full hours and we had no idea what was taking so long in a restaurant that wasn’t full and with at least a dozen employees walking past us without offering help, explanation, apologies, refills, anything. So we walked to the front and asked the manager for the check. She was very nice and apologetic and comped most of the meal which was the right thing to do. We walked past the server and he avoided eye contact with us. It was infuriating. Also- we were never offered refills on the drinks we finished. 2 hours wasted and we went home still hungry. Unfortunately the incompetent server dropped the ball big time. Hopefully they can get both their service and their food presentation together for their sake but we will never be back.

Tsunami is a great local sushi restaurant. I loved going to the one town BR and super happy this one opened up closer to me. Both restaurants are are unique in their own way. This one is more family oriented and better place for a quiet date.

Service was terrible. Took an hour for drinks and 45 mins for the food to arrive. This was on a Tuesday night. They charged me a $15 cake fee when we cut it and ate off of plates and forks we brought. I will be disputing this CC charge.

This post is intended to inform Tsunami staff, managers, and owners that a 4% surcharge on card transactions is not allowed by Visa and Mastercard. I also want Tsunami customers to be aware that their 4% non-cash surcharge adds to the already high prices of their sushi and is most likely not allowed as per processor rules.

My husband works in payment processing tech and was appalled at how blatantly Tsunami is violating the rules for what seems like their own profit. He didn't even have to look this stuff up because it’s so well-known in his line of work, but you can do a quick google search for Visa and Mastercard's Core Rules and find them.

Before last night, I hadn’t visited Tsunami in nearly a decade since I live out of town (grew up here and family is here, so I visit often). I've always had a good experience at Tsunami, and was excited to check out the new location on Highland with my family. Unfortunately, we left with icky feelings about their business practices.

It wasn't just the surcharging that made us feel this way. The large party contract we had to sign to book the reservation (for just 9 people), the per person order minimum ($35 on weeknights, $45 weekends), and the $1.50 charge for a squeeze of sriracha all felt... rather nickel-and-dime-y. They can do all these nitpicky things if they want, fine. But the 4% non-cash fee crosses a line, and not just ethically.

Why not just increase your prices 4% across the board, upset fewer customers, and remain in compliance? I don’t get it. I hope you will change this policy to be more transparent and start following the rules.

I went here for my anniversary last night. We arrived at 8 for an 8:15 reservation. They told us to wait at the bar so we ordered a cocktail. there were dishes where we sat. someone picked up the dishes but did not wipe off the bar! She took our drink orders and did not wipe of the bar that was covered with stick stuff likely from other people's drinks. After she brought out drinks, $14 ea, she set them down and still did not wipe off the bar top. so I took an ice cube from my drink. she had not even given us napkins so I had to reach into her area and get one. I used my ice cube and napkin to clean the counter in front of us! We had to remind the hosts as it seemed they forgot us. We were seated and our server was wonderful. We asked for edamame as an appetizer. and we ordered another drink. none of which were under her control. I feel the bar should have its own serving staff as the servers are way too busy with tables. 30 min later I asked about the edamame. She said it still was not ready. I asked how hard can it be to make edamame. 30 seconds in a microwave. she said she gets attitude when she asks why it isn't ready. we still did not have our second cocktail. probably would have had more if they had been more timely! second one I ordered a double gin and tonic. it has no alcohol it in. My friends got a Grey Goose on the rocks and a mojito. all of us commented that the booze was watered down. Our server took the edamame off our bill. This was our 5th time and we have always enjoyed going there for special occasions. after last night we will not be going back food is great but be prepared for poor service...
