Gumbo to Geaux

Friendly staff and great food!

The Geaux burger was good well seasoned and real meat. Thank goodness for that! Ettoufee color was on point overall it taste Soso. Gumbo was Soso you can taste the burntness of the roux and it was too dark and no meat inside hardly! Overall 5/10 for me.

I found it!!!! I finally found the best Cajun food is this area!!! The fried catfish is so crispy and the batter is full of flavor…. We tasted many dishes and were impressed with them all!

I hate to bash a local business, but this truly was some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten.

We ordered 3 pieces of fried catfish and the Cajun rice. The fried catfish was cooked in VERY old frying oil.
The 2 hush puppies we got were the worst I’ve ever had.

The Cajun rice was cold and had obviously been just taken out of the refrigerator and heated in a microwave.

The first time we had this to go. We ordered 2 - 4 pc catfish dinners, one with fries, one with dirty rice. When we got home, there was only fish and tartar sauce. No fries, no rice, no slaw, no hush puppies. Called the restaurant and spoke to Kevin. He told me the next time we ordered, he would make it right. Ordered again tonight, explained what happened last time, the girl took a few minutes to verify my story and we were offered a couple of deserts or an appetizer at no charge. Ordered the appetizer and I'll be dammed, we were charged for the "free" appetizer! Also pretty sure the fish was cooked in the same oil as the first time we ordered, 2 months earlier. The hush puppies were dry and the dirty rice was mushy and way over cooked. Will not be going back.

I went for the first time last year, the gumbo I had was good. When I returned this year, the gumbo I had was a disappointment. It smelled and tasted like feet, I think the gumbo they gave me was old. It was so bad that I couldn’t even finished eating it. I don’t like leaving 1 stars so I left 2 because I loved it the first time, and the second time was a disappointment. I will never come back again! ??

Excellent food, with fast and friendly service.

Went to this location based on reviews-stayed because the food was really good! Crawfish Louisiana was the special-so good and way more food that could be consumed! The Swamper special was really good too with large portions. The atmosphere is nothing special. It was really warm inside but they did have fans going. Nice staff. Will definitely come again!

Best seafood gumbo in SBC… no one can change my mind

Me and the family wanted to try some Louisiana food while passing through, and the first place was too busy. Just looked for a hole in the wall joint after that and was not disappointed in the slightest. Shrimp po boy was loaded with crispy shrimp and the sauce and bread were great. Gumbo was good too, just missing okra imo. Loved the hole in the wall atmosphere, really down to earth.

Food was alright being from South louisiana I tasted better Cajun food but they sure give you your money's worth with the amount of food they give. You will definitely leave full and probably with a doggy bag to go and prices are very good and low
