It's old school Tex Mex. They've been around forever so they're obviously doing it right. I love the salsa and 2 for 1 enchiladas makes this much more affordable and better than fast food.

1: Starting with the atmosphere.
The restaurant was very clean.
2: The service.
The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Very helpful and checked on my wife and I a few times during the meal. Kept our drinks full and did so with a smile.
3: The food. I've eaten here before and the food was good. Unfortunately this time it was horrific wife had chile relleno and the batter was so thick it made it extremely dry. The cheese was very sparing and lacking in flavor. The rice looked like fried rice from a Chinese restaurant and the beans taste like rosarita canned beans. My meal was the stuffed avocado. The stuffed avocado was pretty good but the beans and rice was the same. I've never seen carrots and peas in rice at a Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately I hate to say this but I will not return to this particular Nickey's. I understand it could be a new cook but someone who is kicking out food this bad needs to be monitored closer by management and offered more training.
