I loved their gator, seafood and regular boudin, my mom loved their catfish and fries
I love this place great food and friendly staff, the Cajun cake warmed up is to die for
Best little place to get fresh Cajun shrimp and oysters!!!
The boudain was delicious!
The crawfish po boy was great. The cracklins for dessert were fabulous. Food is always great here . The little place don't look like much but looks can be deceiving !
I'm not sure if ownership has changed or what, but the food ordered today was cold, dry, flavorless, overcooked and not worth the 36 minute wait to get it. The entire staff was in the kitchen. yelling, laughing and cursing while 8 people were standing in line waiting for our food. Very disappointed as I highly recommend this place to anyone coming in town from out of town, which 3 of the people in line with me were. If ownership has changed, I won't be back, if it hasn't just know how they act when y'all aren't around!
I've been at Chicken On The bayou before and never had bad service there before. One of my burgers were burnt and over salty. The other burger was suppose to be a bacon cheeseburger with grill onions. That one was burnt, over salty and the cheese was taken off of it. The fried shrimp was cold and over salty. I've never had bad food from there before but this time it was the breaking point for me. I would advise anyone that goes eat there DON'T. It's not worth the money. I wasted $51.00 for crappy, disgusting food.
Loved the fried chicken and boudin balls. The delicious red beans and rice were the perfect complement. Our chicken was cooked to order which made it even more enjoyable. Friendly service.
We have eaten here so many times over the years while visiting we’ve lost count. We’ve been travelling around the states and, anytime we’re anywhere near this place, we swing by to get some of their Cajun food. Don’t get put off by the exterior or interior….you’re in Cajun country now. The Gumbo is delicious, the fried chicken is great, the Po-Boys are the way they’re supposed to be make and the Boudin Balls are the absolute best! The order usually takes about 15-30 minutes to fill so we call in early and go pick up, although dining in this rustic place is a treat. Nice ownership…had the place for years. Great staff and cooks. Highly recommend all their food.
We had heard good things about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. There was a sign on the door to please be patient as they were short-staffed. That's a problem everywhere these days, and we completely understand. However, we stood at the order desk for approximately 10 minutes while 2 staff members were sitting behind the counter talking and laughing, but never acknowledged that we were there. We could also see a gentleman in the kitchen who looked up at us several times. After standing there for 10 minutes without a hello or anything, we decided they didn't really need our business and went elsewhere.

It was slow getting my chicken because I had to wait for it to be cooked. It took some extra chewing to eat the chicken and I wasn't sure it was totally cooked. Recommendation : If you want chicken go across I-10 to Popeye's or find a Churches so you don't waste your money.
A good roadside stop for fried food. We got the seafood basket. My son loved the catfish, oysters, gator, crawfish, frog legs and shrimp. Husband had the gumbo and is was okay and the burger I had was cooked well. Overall a good place to stop for lunch. Not the cleanest place I have ever been, but we still ate and had a good time.
Do NOT miss "Chicken on the Bayou". It's worth eating here just to experience the Cajun ambience! Yes, the food was great -- but even if it were only average, you'd still want to stop here just for the unique experience. After all, where else can you buy "GATORBITE" coffee-infused liquor and 100 proof MIDNIGHT MOON peach moonshine? Not in your home town, I bet, no matter WHERE you're from!
I recommend not wasting your money here. Ordered 6" hot sausage po-boy to go. Got home only to find out sausage was dry & tough as leather.
My daughter and I were traveling from NC to TX and ran into this restaurant after our McGee's swamp tour (another review). They had all the cajun cuisine you could imagine. It was sooooo good. I had the combo plate which included oysters, crawfish, alligator, and catfish. My daughter just got the gator plate. This place was pumpin!! Truckers would park on the other side of the street and walk over. There was a line when we got there and there was a line when we left. You can take it or eat it there. Definitely a must do.
