Looked for a sit down crawfish boiler between Ville Platte and Lafayette that was boiling for lunch on a Saturday. Cankton Cafe was one of the few sit down places open and boiling. The place was easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the crawfish seasoning and quality was above average. Definitely a small town restaurant worth taking a detour for.

Quaint little cafe with good food. I was a regular but I will not be back. Twice they were out of the side that came with the meal so they gave me another side same price but changed me for the side. I completed but no use. Today they were out of potato salad for the gumbo and offered mashed potatoes. I asked if we could substitute 1 small onion ring for the 2 missing potato salad and waitress said sure. Changed me for the onion rings but no credit for the 2 missing potato salad.

What a great place. My wife and I were visiting family in sunset who had just moved there and we were looking for a place to eat. Everything was fantastic and the entertainment was awesome. The chicken and shrimp were some of the best I have ever had. Looking forward to our next visit. 10 stars

We live not too far away, so we finally decided to get this place a try. Boy, are we glad we did! Phenomenal food and very reasonable prices. From the seafood platters, to the filet mignon, to the fried chicken, and even the chicken & sausage gumbo, everything was homemade and delicious!
Bonus tip: the fried pickle appetizer is the best we’ve ever had, even my kids were fighting for the last few in the plate!

The crawfish aren't too my liking. A lil too bland...
The main reason I will not come in is when my niece asked for no cheese on her burger, it came out with cheese! We even told the girl from the beginning when we were ordering appetizer she is ALLERGIC to dairy. The nice server took the burger back. It looked like a different burger intil she gets half through and there is the infamous stretchy swiss! UNBELIEVABLE! We didn't see it under the sauted onions.
East at your own risk if you have an Allergy, they wont listen
Dietary restrictions: You tell them no dairy, you get cheese after asking for no cheese, gets same burger with most of cheese taken off and hidden by onions!
