Looked for a sit down crawfish boiler between Ville Platte and Lafayette that was boiling for lunch on a Saturday. Cankton Cafe was one of the few sit down places open and boiling. The place was easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the crawfish seasoning and quality was above average. Definitely a small town restaurant worth taking a detour for.
Quaint little cafe with good food. I was a regular but I will not be back. Twice they were out of the side that came with the meal so they gave me another side same price but changed me for the side. I completed but no use. Today they were out of potato salad for the gumbo and offered mashed potatoes. I asked if we could substitute 1 small onion ring for the 2 missing potato salad and waitress said sure. Changed me for the onion rings but no credit for the 2 missing potato...
What a great place. My wife and I were visiting family in sunset who had just moved there and we were looking for a place to eat. Everything was fantastic and the entertainment was awesome. The chicken and shrimp were some of the best I have ever had. Looking forward to our next visit. 10 stars
