Third time eating here. I have always gotten the Monte Cristo which is awesome. I decided on the chicken biscuit and it seemed as though it had been thawed and warmed up. The cheese was cold and the chicken tough. So disappointing. Our server (very sweet) second day on the job was doing her best, but we felt as though she should have been still training. She was so lost , but not her fault at all. It will be awhile before we go back.

How is it that I didn't know about this place sooner? Great Homestyle breakfast and lunch menu! Really enjoyed the casual atmosphere and friendly service. The food was wonderful. Will make this a regular stop.

This place is great for some downtime cooking. Hence the name of the place. Love the breakfast. I had and recommend the boudin omelet that comes with grit or hash browns & biscuit or toast. I always aske for a bowl of sausage gravy for my biscuit. My wife had the grilled pork chops and eggs. Her pork chops were a little overcooked and tough. Our friend that joined us had the meat lovers omelet with hash browns and biscuits and gravy but had to send the biscuits and gravy back due to it was cold so it could be warmed up. The food was good overall. Our server seemed to be running around with her head cut off and kept forgetting things but did a good job overall. Just like every restaurant, they all are hit or miss at times. Still a great little hole in the wall place to get some down home cooking.

Always feel like family coming here. Knew going in that the cooking staff was out sick and the owner had to balance back and forth from kitchen to hosting. It took a little longer, but knowing why made a huge difference. The boudin omelet is delicious and you can’t do your palate wrong with it. Yum! Would add a picture but it would be an empty plate.

Was greeted upon entering by someone yelling from the back of the restaurant to sit where ever we want. Really off putting and not something I can get use to even though this is probably our 5th or 6th visit. I really enjoyed the down home feel of the ambience of the restaurant. As it was a seat yourself type of thing, so I did as such. The waitress immediately took our drink order and came back with our drinks fairly quickly for a table of 8. She then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. Too much time to where I thought she was ignoring us or overly busy and wasn't coming back. She came and took our appetizer & entrée order, which for me was a little bumpy and seemed out of sorts but she finished taking our orders.First to come out 15 minutes later was my appetizer, the fried pickles. That is about right to me to wait for an appetizer in an almost empty restaurant. Flavor was what got me though, they were super salty and greasy. No real crisp of them being fried what so ever.My entrée came out 36 min after my appetizer. Bad kitchen timing? Backed up? Didn't know because after our waitress dropped off the appetizer we didn't see her again for drinks or anything. The food was warm (room temperature) and the flavors were ok for my meal. My daughter sent hers back because they didn't get something right, as did my husband. Getting those two dishes back took forever it seemed, because we were done eating by the time their fixed plates returned. If you like a nice down home type of meal, and don't mind mediocre service, a long wait, weird greeting & luke warm food; then this is the place for you. I don't know if they have lunch specials, as I was not told about them or offered them during the ordering process, so your guess is as good as mine.

We walked in, were told to sit at any table, sat there for 5 minutes as waitresses walked all around us. Were never handed a menu or spoken to. We left. The End....

Went here for the first time with my dad this morning for breakfast, this place was sooo good. Got a ham, egg, and cheese croissant and it was massive. Very affordable prices and really nice staff. They were working hard this morning, only two of them in the front, but the waitresses did well with being attentive despite having to serve a lot of people. I will definitely come back!

Wow, girlfriend got open faced roast beef on 2 pieces of Texas toast, lots of rich, thick brown gravy, with French fries. I got the Monte Cristo and twice baked potatoe. Total bill 32.00 including the tip. What a great meal. We will go back, as this was our first time going. We drove about 20 minutes to get there. It was worth the drive. Handicapped parking and entrance. Not much staff on hand, but we were well taken care of.
