Umi Sushi & Hibachi Grill

I always come here. I come from the westbank. As I'm sitting in the restaurant writing this review, I'm getting more upset. I made reservations for 6 for the hibachi. This was 4 people in my party first time. When we arrived, an older lady was about to seat my party. The younger hostess came up and seated some people even though we were here for our reservation. Highly disappointed.

Our waitress Misti was the best! We loved the sushi and the tempora cheesecake was amazing.

I go here often and find the food and service.Great.But the owner walks around sulking like a Butler and waiting.She could at least smile at her customers.

Enjoy the food, sometimes the service seems a bit spotty, drink refill sometimes I find I have to go and grab it . The cooks are entertaining. But overall a decent experience and full tummy!

Menus were so disgustingly used up/aged. Would it break the bank to invest in new menus?

While service was quite adequate, I was unhappy they charged extra because I wanted 2 out of 5 vegetables in my hibachi combination platter; Broccoli & Carrots.

Went there last night, and we all had a blast. The hibachi cook was funny and more importantly he had my son, who is 5, laughing his butt off. Super entertaining!

UNSANITARY PRACTICES
I placed a phone order for hibachi rice without eggs at Umi in Chalmette on 7/10/2024. When I arrived, the cashier advised the order was not ready. While waiting, I observed another customer, who had received the wrong order, returned her order of hibachi rice to the cashier. Rather than discarding the returned food, the cashier casually re-bagged the returned item and presented me with a dish someone else had previously picked over. This incident occurred under the watchful eyes of the owner, who chose to remain silent until I demanded a refund. Their actions are just not unsanitary but severely violates basic food service practices. I am extremely disappointed and livid in their actions. Needless to say, EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK…

We went for dinner at this restaurant tonight and it was a wonderful experience. Our server, Lannah, was very attentive and a sweetheart. The hibachi specialist was Jin. We were impressed with his enthusiasm and spunky personality! The food was very well cooked and the portions were more than fair to say the least. We appreciated the evening and will certainly be back.

This is my first time at this restaurant. We were able to order from the lunch menus since it was before 3:00 p.m., there was a party of three of us.

One person order the sushi lunch, the other two ordered hibachi meals with vegetables and rice. Everything was absolutely delicious and piping hot to the table

The food was absolutely amazing! The portions was huge. Alice (I believe that’s her name) was amazing and I’ll definitely be back! We were full and still brought home plenty!
