Great hotel. The rooms are very nice and spacious. They are also very clean and reasonably priced.

Terrific renovation, but it is all downhill from there. Aside from two cans of water, the rooms have none of the amenities found in a chain motel. No coffeemaker, no refrigerator. TV doesn't work because they have DirectTV, which is in a contract dispute with some outfit called Tegna, which sounds like a psoriasis medication but is actually a spinoff of Gannett. The much-publicized Gloriette restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings, a material fact not mentioned on the web site. I had to eat a hamburger in the noisy, overcrowded bar, and I have never waited so long for a hamburger.Oh, and there's no reception area near the entrance, so be prepared to schlep your own luggage. At their prices, it's all pretty ridiculous.

The worst bed, no tv with selection of movies all dumb commercial tv. Additionally $300 I get less than I did at a Hampton inn

I was here for work and stayed three nights. It is an old building full of southern charm but with modern upgrades and sophistication you would expect from a large hotel. It is a relatively small place but they do not skimp on the service or quality. When I come to Covington, this will ALWAYS be my hotel!

Housekeeping was great! Just wish our room had a fridge like everyone else we knew that was staying in the hotel or at least be comped for not having one!

Very sweet cocktail waitress. Was on her toes. Didnt have to wait on any drinks. She was very mindful of her customers.

Stayed here last night for a different experience from chain hotels. It was incredible! I read some other reviews online that gave me some reservations and I have absolutely no complaints!! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Yes there is a thermostat on the wall for you to control the climate in your own. They even had portable ac units in hallways to battle the southern heat. Pool is small but quaint and cooled me off and they provide towels. The restaurant was good and the bar was bustling and had a great selection of top end liquors for all tastes. Every one was so nice! I will definitely stay again in the future.

My mate and I enjoyed Percy Walker Wednesday at the Cyprus Bar at the Southern Hotel in Covington. Friendly bar area, pianist, nice patio, with $5 Old Fashions, and excellent appetizers. We can recommend the artisanal cheese tray. Our server, Izzy, took excellent care of us. A little touch of old southern charm in Covington. Highly recommended!

Have stayed here multiple times over the past years for work only. The hotel is always clean and the rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are large and always clean. The hotel is a historic hotel I believe. The meeting room that we are in is nice but always cold. Bring a coat for meetings. The bar is open everyday I believe and serves some finger food in the evenings. I have not tried the restaurant but there is one attached the hotel. The hotel is in walking distance of a few bars and restaurants in the area. There is also a coffee house just a few blocks down that's great. Overall a nice place to stay when in Covington.

The Southern has been our “go to” hotel on frequent trips to ride bicycle trails in southern Louisiana. This stay was disappointing. The elevator was broken. Staff seemed unconcerned. The complementary morning coffee in the lobby available on previous stays was nowhere to be found. After struggling with the TV remote a staff member suggested pointing it at the ceiling instead of at the TV. That did work as long as I stood immediately in front of the TV. No luck when sitting in bed. These are small things, but also an easy fix.

The courtyard is fantastic! Such a lovely place. We are certain to visit on our next trip thru!

One of my favorite places to stay! Great place to stop, relax, eat, drink and hunker in. The ever-so-beyond quaint Southern Hotel is filled with charm, class, style and beauty. From ease of parking to welcoming team, to memorable on-site libations, to setting n decor to a beautiful, and... an ooohh so comfy room or suite. All of this combined, makes for a memorable experience and definite stop!

Incredible drinks - similar to the fancy hotels in NYC and London. Best sazerac I've ever had - they have some special bacon fat bitters that makes it real special
