I’ve been hearing about this eatery for years from family. Today I happened to be in the area and was taken to Mattina Bella, translation, beautiful morning. The restaurant seats around 85 people in a cozy but spacious and comfortable setting. It’s a classy environment. We were greeted immediately and pleasantly and seated quickly. However I can imagine an opportunity for a conversation during a wait on the weekend.The charming waitress got our drink order but was watchful and could read when we were ready to order. She was able to answer any questions we had and her descriptions were articulate and accurate.The wait time gave us sufficient time to have a leisurely chat and not feel rushed.The Blue Crab Eggs Benedict was absolutely the best I’ve ever had. I’ve worked in seventeen countries and never had a hollandaise sauce as light and heavenly creamy as this. The chunks of jumbo lump crab were very fresh and were well paired with the mushrooms and the eggs were perfectly prepared.They have a kids menu, allow service dogs, don’t allow smoking, and don’t take reservations.The staff was a clear compliment to the food. This was more than a meal, it was a delightful experience. I will return every opportunity I get but fear those opportunities will never be enough!Thanks to my son for taking me here.

I've never been disappointed or unsatisfied at this restaurant. They open for breakfast and lunch only, and they do those two meals wonderfully. The food is always great! The service is good, and they make the best salad in town! I stand by that! The Grilled Chicken Bella Salad, with it's house made Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing if absolutely the most delicious salad I've eaten. And I've traveled all over the world. I've eaten several other meals from there, and not one has been a disappointment. No ha yet what you choose, you can't go wrong. The dining area itself is relatively small, but very cozy. It can be a tiny bit loud from time to time, but nothing overwhelming. It's usually a friendly crowd and laughter & chatting rolls through the room with ease. Believe me, you'll love it.

I don't know why I haven't written a review sooner because this is one of my all-time favorite breakfast places. The food is outstanding and so are the prices. While eating out these days almost requires a home equity loan, you can get a fantastic breakfast and still walk out with money in your pocket. Yesterday, my son and I went there, and he had steak and eggs with grits, and I had a lump crabmeat (a lot) Benedict for less than $40. That crab Benedict, along with the salmon Benedict and the lump crabmeat omelet, are three of my favorites. But, everything is fantastic and the service is as well. If you've never been, then now is the time.

Delicious, even though it’s brunch, they’d let me order lunch and I got my order out whenever lunchtime hit. And since it was so loud and crowded in there, I went outside and sat on the bench. It was a beautiful day. I’m lucky that I could take a real fork and real plate and eat my delicious salad. Wonderful upscale diner feeling in downtown.
This was an excellent breakfast during our Covington visit. The banana pecan pancakes were so moist that I didn’t even use syrup!

Food,service,atmosphere excellent. However the coffee is not. Even fresh brewed it had no body and tasted dirty (like dirt). Please change the brand. You are not doing yourselves any favors by falling flat on something so important as the cup of coffee.

Great for breakfast or lunch anytime. Love staff, menu, kitchen staff & owners. Food is excellent, great variety always consistently good food.The best part of the experience is the smiles you are greeted with and the overall welcoming feeling of like being at home. There is a sense of busy-ness but added to the joy, laughter and love that is in the air it creats a wonderful atmosphere anytime. And if you come during Saints game you can watch the game while enjoying meal and celebrate with everyone. Yummy!!Vegetarian options: There are many options for everyone just about any type of diet and they do their best to accomodate.Dietary restrictions: Always options!!
