Review of Texas Roadhouse (Birthday Dinner, September 2025)
I went to Texas Roadhouse last night with my boyfriend for my 34th birthday. I’d been craving a steak and figured it would be a fun treat, even though we knew it was going to be packed since it was LSU game night.
The Good:
• We waited a normal amount of time for a booth, and our table was clean.
• Rolls came out quickly, which was nice since it took about five minutes for our drink order.
• Beer was cold and came quickly.
• The shrimp appetizer was good, and my boyfriend really enjoyed his chicken tenders and fries.
• The little trivia tablets on the table were a fun distraction while waiting.
The Not-So-Great:
• The water tasted terrible — metallic and overly chlorinated, almost like theme park water. I couldn’t drink it.
• Our server never introduced himself, and service throughout the night was inconsistent. At one point, I had a side salad delivered without any silverware or napkins. After asking three different staff members with no luck, I eventually had to go grab my own from the server station.
• The overall noise level was extreme — I expected it to be lively on game night, but it was so loud I had to yell just for my boyfriend to hear me.
• At the table next to us, a plate was dropped and a shard hit my leg. I wasn’t hurt badly (just a small cut I bandaged myself), but no one seemed to notice or check in.
• The ribeye I ordered was disappointing — chewy, with the fat not rendered properly. The loaded potato was on the dry side and could’ve used more toppings, but since our server was hard to track down, I just went with it.
Overall:
We didn’t complain during the meal because it didn’t seem worth making a scene, but the experience was disappointing — especially since going out to eat is a rare treat for us. Some parts of the meal were enjoyable, but the combination of poor service, overly loud atmosphere, and a lackluster steak made it a birthday dinner I wouldn’t repeat here anytime soon.

We went to get lunch and when we got to the table there was dried food and grease on the saucers ( this is the second time this has happened ), the waitress didn’t bring bread and had to ask for it ( this is also the second time this has happened. But for the first time since starting to come here I had a waitress that never smiled, never said your welcome or no problem after we said thank you, and barely checked on us. When I had realized my steak was undercooked ( which was after she asked if everything was okay but I didn’t have a chance to cook eat yet since I had just gotten back from the bathroom ) I said yes and she had left. I had began eating the thinnest pieces of the steak and they were a perfect medium. I got to the thickest part of the steak and it was rare not even medium rare. I told her what had happened and asked her to have it cooked more and she proceeded to say “ I come here and check on yall multiple times so you can tell me when somethings wrong, you know? So just tell me . “ then somebody else brought out my steak no smile or anything and said “ cut into that for me.” So I did and it was still undercooked but I said it was fine because they already seemed annoyed with me and my baby was exhausted and ready to go at this point. I will be coming back but this was a very disappointing experience.

We brought our son here for his 11th bday because this is what he wanted for his birthday dinner. The food was absolutely horrible, took forever to get food and they forgot some items that we had to wait another 20 minutes for. The food tasted burnt, my burger and fries tasted burnt, the steak tasted burnt, the green beans according to my 5 year old were so nasty. The waiter was amazing and did what he could when the kitchen staff didnt have the sides prepared. The waiter/waitress staff were amazing in giving my son the yeehaw Birthday experience. If it wasnt for the food not being hot and tasting overly burnt I would have given them a 5 star but for $160 in food it was a horrible waste of money.

Couldn't get order right either way overcooked or raw was served to us in a hamburger, had to ask to get used plates removed so we had room for entrees, refills weren't provided, and problems weren't resolved they were blamed on others or it was too busy to do anything about it. Dont waste your money or time definitely not worth it

Too much noise. It sounded like a frat party. Food was ok but service was excellent. Don't know if I'll go back.

Just left the covington location when there for my daughter 13th birthday. And I just want to give some honest feedback—the service and the food really didn’t meet expectations at all. The experience was disappointing, and even the manager didn't help to resolve the problems food was not cooked was told they didn't have things but really did. We won't be back to this location.

Excellent as always. My go-to steak joint. Bone-in ribeye, get it. Green bean side, get it. Not the quietest place for dinner, but I tend to find myself dining here on weekends. Expect a busy restaurant.
