We have been going to Houma’s House for years and I’ve always loved everything about it. My family of four went there today on my birthday to celebrate and had the worst experience. It took us over an hour to get our food. We ordered eggplant Napoleon, a Po-Boy, , and a burger. Our waitress never came by to apologize and then we had to ask another waiter to refill our drinks for us as they set empty for well over 20 minutes. I then asked for more bread which she never brought. Even my husband was frustrated and he has much patience. For what we paid for our lunch, I really expected better service than that

The Carriage house at The Houmas House never disappoints! The food is always consistent and delicious. Our server was friendly and very attentive to our needs and questions. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. We can't say enough of how much we love dining there and can't wait to come back soon.

This was our first time visiting Houmas House in the evening. It's wonderful to see it at night. The food is always excellent. We had a large table of 14 people. Connor the server, did a very decent job.

The grounds and buildings are absolutely beautiful and worth experiencing, the food is always just a little better than hotel banquet food. I don't want to bash the restaurant, but it's a shame that great food isn't more of a priority.

The food and service were okay. The property itself is beautiful and the interior of the restaurant is interesting as well. Unfortunately the interior is a bit dingy. We were seated by a window. The window sill was covered in dust and bugs. Service was apathetic and slow. I certainly wouldn't make a special trip to eat here.

Celebrating a birthday. I have 2 favorite place... The Inn in St. Francisville, and the Carriage House at Houmas House. Fine dining but in a relaxed, warm, beautiful atmosphere which allows the diners to enjoy the meal and drinks.
Always a great time at Houmas house. Grab a drink from the turtle bar then head to the carriage house for a great meal.

SEP 29, 2025, I went to this restaurant after touring the Houmas House and Museum (I enjoyed both places). The Dixie Cafe closed at 2p, so I found this restaurant. The signage on the property is not the best, the entrance of this restaurant has no sign also, just two doors with bird door handles. The food was great. I had a Hurricane cocktail, ordered the pumpkin, crawfish, corn chowder, at waitress's suggestion. I ordered the Fried Eggplant and lump crab dish. The breads and two butter serving were all very tasty. I had the banana cheesecake for dessert. Did not get a pic of that, phone battery died. I highly recommend this place!
