The service was not good. The couple with us never got their salad. We ordered a hurricane which took forever because he forgot. I ordered coffee with dessert and never got it. My husband was never asked if he wanted another glass of wine. It was our 25th anniversary so I thought maybe a special dessert since it was noted on the reservation. I won't be going back. Too much money for bad service.

TurtleBar makes best French 75 w Cognac!! Service was good and the Chef's Special of Stuffed Eggplant was delicious. The green bean almandine was a bit salty for my taste My husband had the red fish for the 1st time and probably his last He said the seasoning was good however the fish wasn't cleaned properly so it had that fishy taste even when he pulled the gray part off the fish was already tainted. It did NOT ruin our evening and we are locals and frequent often. And will continue as we love it here

The place is beautiful and ambiance is great...if you are looking for that historic dining room that makes you feel like you are dining in a part of history. The presentation of the food is great! We had the jumbo crab cake, onion rings, shrimp poboy, and eggplant Napoleon. Crab meat is either imported or canned jumbo lump...but for what it is it isn't bad but if you are expecting fresh jumbo lump from a seafood market you will be able to tell the difference. Poboy was very good...onion rings were okay...they were fresh onion hand battered onion rings most of the breading had fell off the onion rings before serving...still not a problem. Dipping sauce was good. Bread and dragonfly biscuits with the praline butter were very good. They bring it out complimentary before your entrees. Hostess was great and very informative. Servers were young gentleman that are still learning the serving business. Not bad but need to learn how to pay attention to detail better. We were there at a slow time 11-12pm 1 of 3 tables on that time. A big top did come in towards the ending. Overall the experience was good I will be back to try other food items. Price wise it is definitely worth it to dine and be able to explore the grounds.

Houmas House is a beautiful step back to the time of elegant plantations. The Carriage House is beautiful architecture and design. The food and service is wonderful. My friend and I split a Caesar Salad. Delicious. Then we both had the Eggplant Napoleon. The Eggplant is cut in circles and fried. Then covered in lump crabmeat and hollandasie. Also the bread and dragon fly biscuits are the bomb. They are served with regular butter and a pralines butter. Again fabulous. I have been several times and they never disappoint. I recommend the Carriage House for lunch or dinner. It is worth the drive or overnight stay and at the Inn or condos. Enjoy!!!
Sunday lunch. Curry crawfish pumpkin soup was amazing. Shrimp and Grits crazy good. All the food was beautifully prepared and served hot. Service was great too. Highly recommended. Reservations recommended but they can work you in too. If you eat in the restaurant you can tour the gardens for free. If you want to tour the home you can buy a ticket at the Turtle Bar. Highly recommended.

Everything about our experience was quite enjoyable. The only criticism we would have it was just a little bit more difficult to talk just because of the overall noise level and the size of the table otherwise a wonderful experience.
