This is one of my favorite restaurants. "Restaurant" is not the right word. "Experience" would be more accurate. I'll start with food. On the menu there is a pumpkin crawfish bisque that when I initially saw that combo I turned my nose up at it but decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did - unlike anything I've ever had! I'm always so torn. Trying to decide what to get. For a first time, or I would have to insist on the eggplant Napoleon. It's piled high with so much lump crab meat. I don't know how they offer it for the price it is. But the pork chop with the sweet potato, mash and brussels sprouts... OMG! The service is always great! You're given a basket of breads and biscuits for the table with a couple of butter options. The butter with the Steen's syrup is my favorite. on our last visit, we were celebrating a birthday. The birthday girl was surprised with an array of sweets. But as I said, this is more than just a restaurant, it's an experience. Plan extra time before your reservation or after so that you can view the gorgeous grounds! From the house to the gardens to the fountains to the covered archway, you're going to need at least an extra hour for exploring .

Once a favorite restaurant of mine, but unfortunately it was not the case this time around. The restaurant it self had a very old smell to it the night we went. The bread service was not good except for their butter. The scallops were chewy. The salad was fresh but not remarkable. The short rib meal was good but not for the price. The grounds were the best part of this restaurant.

I had this place recommended to me by family and I was just so surprised at this hidden gem! I was checking out the beauty of Houma House and decided to stop in to see if this place was as good as I was told. Well, I was delighted to find out that it was. The first thing you notice when you walk in is this beautiful atmosphere. It feels very homey and elegant when you first walk in and feels like you are sitting in someone's dining room. They started us off with homemade bread with butter and another spread which were to die for. I then ordered the burger and fries and the grilled chicken caesar salad to split and they were so tasty! Fresh ingredients prepared excellently. This is such a fun and unique place for a special brunch and it is definitely a hidden gem. I recommend!

We went for a quick beer here while passing through. The bartenders were great, very friendly and gave some useful information. Solid selection of beverages and great atmosphere. Wish we could have stayed longer.

I always going love to the houmas house and eating at the carriage house restaurant! It never disappoints! Pumpkin lobster Bisque phenomenal. I 100% recommend that! The ambiance is so special too! Very elegant. I can't wait to go at Christmas time!

During our first night and first experience in New Orleans we got some "touristy" things out of the way early. Bourbon Street is fun, but it's not exactly the scene I'm looking for anymore. We did a food tour in the French district the following day, and it was good. After the tour we took a break at our hotel, doing some research we decided to get out of the city. We wanted to experience a scenic drive and a plantation estate. Houmas House offered both. Excellent decision. We were able to walk in without a reservation for a table for 2 at 6pm. The restaurant was already busy, so we were grateful to be sat right away. Already a strong start. I wish I caught the host's name, because he was an excellent team player who got our waters to start and also helped deliver our drinks when they were made. I did, however, get our waiters name. Christian carries himself with class and optimism. I watched him manage a high number of tables and never lose his composure. He was attentive and always made sure we were updated as our orders were being made. The restaurant is small, and didn't look like it was equipped to handle the volume that it received that night. Understandingly so, some orders came out a little slow. Not nearly slow enough to complain, but Christian made sure we knew we weren't being ignored or forgotten. Apologies for the enthusiasm on the service, it really was that good. Onto the food! We ordered two hurricanes in the spirit of our location. It was on our "to do list" for New Orleans. Awesome choice, the cocktails were fresh, balanced, and delicious. Definitely try this! We started with the roasted beet salad. It was balanced with really good flavor. Just enough dressing and a nice start to the meal. WHEN I come back I want to try the diver scallops. For main entrees I got the Red Fish and my wife ordered the Eggplant Napoleon. I really love how they utilized crab meat in both dishes. It really adds a dimension to the dish that makes every bite worthwhile. Both had good sauces and were good portions to have you leaving satisfied. Lastly, we finished off our meal with the bread pudding. It came out hot and ready. The white chocolate sauce was delightful and made us so happy. Our anniversary is tomorrow, but this meal is probably our anniversary dinner as we fly out of NO in the evening. Thank you for an awesome experience, we had a great time on this property and at this restaurant.

Love going here! Wish the menu was a little larger but I understand because there typically isn't a crowd there!

I had a fantastic experience at The Carriage House! The food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. The stunning beauty of the plantation added to the overall charm, creating a perfect ambiance. Highly recommend!

Took our daughter and husband and our 2 beautiful granddaughters there last night and the food was superb. They have the most wonderful menu. What a chef! The beauty and historical elegance of this place cannot be denied. Just wish we had had time to take them through the River Road Museum.

Josephine was wonderful in both the Carriage House and Dixie Cafe. Ambiance was delightful. Food was terrific. Unfortunately the young lady bartender in The Turtle Bar was not very friendly, she must have been having a bad day!

My husband and I stopped in The Turtle Bar while doing a tour of the Houmas House. We had a great bartender named Riley. She was extremely informative on local spirits. She made us a Hurricane and an Old Fashioned. The drinks were fantastic! Great service!

Food was okay but not for amount paid. Service was a little awkward. Front desk told us of the restaurant and when we arrived we were told we needed a reservation but place only had 4 other people there dining??? Eventually we were seated but made no sense.

OMG, amazing!!!! Hubs and I are gluten free. We told Lauren when and she took great care of us. Immediately told us the GF options. We had pork cheek with corn grits. I'm not a grits fan, hubs is. I tried them though and they were AMAZING!! As was the pork cheek. So tender it fell apart. We shared the braised short ribs with carrots and mashed potatoes with some sort of reduction. Again, super tender and tasty!!! Carrots were perfectly al dented! Finished with what Lauren promised was the best creme brulee and itbdid nit disappoint! Everything was amazing. The food was so amazing I almost forgot the atmosphere. The restaurant was historically opulent. So much to look at! If you visit Houmas House this is a must!!!!

A piece of history not to be missed. Sit down back in time 150 years and enjoy the opulence that abounds. Absolutely everything is wonderful. The dining room is so fanciful and welcoming. The chef needs a Michelin Star, seriously. I've dined at top restaurants around the world and Chef Jeremy is right there at the top. Everything is sumptuous, perfectly prepared and presented. The menus don a historical theme and perfect. Spend the weekend there. It's worth the drive.

Our table for lunch. I had no idea that we were to be seated in such a beautiful dining room. The Carriage House was a dream. Everything we tasted was incredible. The crab cakes were riddled with lump crab and not over-breaded. We dined on best pork chops I've ever tasted. The flavor was wonderful and oh so juicy and tender. Our server Lauren was hugely efficient with our party of 13. She was friendly, helpful and took her job seriously.
