Dons Seafood - Denham Springs

Had lunch with my family and it was a very good experience- all food came out hot and the server was on point

Should be ashamed to serve,especially on the first Monday oyster night, as to their size and appearance. Have eaten there on previous occasions, but last night they were not close to those. People at our table (8) were astonished by their appearance and the size (some no larger than a quarter and very black). This review is not meant to be harmful but to be honest. Service was just was just average. Be a while before we dine again, not saying we won't, just need to get over our present disappointment.

My wife and I normally dine at Don's in Denham Springs 1 to 3 times a month. Usually its a good place to unwind and have a good meal. But this particular evening was New Year's Eve around 5 pm. We made reservations,(which we never do, but being new Year's Eve), decided maybe we should just to make sure we had a spot. My wife ordered the snapper and I had the seafood combo. Took forever to get to us, and the size of the red snapper for $38 and overpriced! It was not enough food for the money! You could tell that the food, even my seafood combo was cold. We ate it, but it'll be a while before we go back to Don's.

My husband ordered seafood platter, which was excellent. I ordered fried oysters very good! Our server was Gail very attentive great service ! This is a very welcoming restaurant, and the food was beyond our expectations ❤️

Food & service excellent. Only negative is that 6 people had to crowd around a table made for 4.

This Don's, overall, passes the test, and then some. I especially like their stuffed grilled shrimp. They give you at least 4 shrimp wrapped around delicious crab cakes. The have good sides too, like their green beans and grilled corn. The char grilled oysters are pretty good. the gumbo, though, could be a little better. For one thing, it is too peppery. The old Don's in north Baton Rouge used to have about the best gumbo in town so I guess the standard by which I am judging is high. The service has always been very good on our visits and even when they are busy, the wait is seldom long.

Really sub par. We had hush puppies, catfish/shrimp and shrimp n grits. Hush puppies were ok but small. Turns out meals came with some anyway but they were clearly not the same ones (no green onions). Strange. Patties liked the catfish. Fried shrimp clearly had appearance of being small frozen pre battered shrimp. They were nothing that a reputable Cajun restaurant should serve. More like red lobster. Shrimp n Grits had some very small shrimp. Tough sausage was scattered. . Gravy/sauce was much too salty. Horribly unbalanced dish with no skill shown. . Will not return.

Food was so good. Had the Seafood Platter. Shared it with my wife and we had leftovers. We also added the gumbo. (Chicken and Sausage) Very good. I had to try Don's Signature Old Fashioned. It was pretty good, not the best I have had but it was good. 4 out of 5 stars... Hot Honey Margarita was very good, Perfect spice/heat if you like that. Definitely would recommend this place and would come back if we are in the area again.

The food was awesome! Server we had was ok... could have been more attentive. Temperature was pretty cold. Definitely will go back but will bring a jacket.

A “colored only” section??! 🤯 It’s a no for me.

Hate to let our secret out, but here goes. Don's Seafood in Denham Springs, La. is simply a great place to stop in after a long hard day, for just a cocktail or a wonderful meal, be it lunch or dinner! It is our "go-to"! The food is great. Something for everyone. Outside seating, bartop seating, tables and booths in the bar also which is great for watching your fav sport game, and a general area with tables and booths. Glass wall at the charbroil area! You can watch them cook your order! All the apps are great! Wonderful atmosphere, great service, reasonable pricing! Do yourself a favor, stop in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. For those who need, there is a wheelchair ramp.
