I love that it's in a old house. I got the burger and it was amazing. Could tell it was a handmade patty and cooked/smoked on a grill instead of a flat top. Wait was a bit but worth it. This is real food made by real people. This aint wendys so you gunna pay for the food. Worth it

This review covers my 2nd time to Big Thicket BBQ. So, instead of the Combo plate, which I had the first time. I thought I would have a smaller lunch this time, so I ordered the Brisket Burger with a side of the baked beans. I'm thinking I wouldn't be so tired after eating a 2 or 3 meat combo plate. Then, the lady brings my order to the table. See attached photo. The picture doesn't do this burger the justice it deserves. Everything about it was (to me) perfect...the bun was hot, soft, and big. The cheese was perfectly melted, and the patty was at least 1/2" to 3/4" thick. Definitely not the frozen, pre-made, pre-packaged patties that most places serve. The beans are my favorite side dish there. Two kinds of beans mixed together with lots of meat thrown in. Their chicken is also very hard to beat, smokey crispy skin, the meat is so juicy and full of flavor. The staff are so nice and check on you throughout your meal to make sure there's nothing you need and didn't get. I have only been here twice, but from those 2 times, I would be willing to wager that every item offered is of the same high quality and standards that my 2 meals were prepared with. I don't think you could go wrong no matter what you decide to eat. ENJOY!!!

Delicious!! So insanely delicious!! I had a cup of gumbo and a sample of burnt ends. My husband had the little piggy plate- two sliders, a side (which was Mac n cheese and that is a treat all its own). I regret not getting dessert which will be a definite my next trip. Everything was sooooo good ? I am looking forward to my next trip to DeRidder just dor this place.
