We went to Uchi Sushi is Destrehan last week with my granddaughter who is 18 months. We were excited to see her face when they cooked in front of us. There was a table of 10 that arrived the same time as us. They sat us on the table behind them and turned our grill on. The chef came and cooked for the other table and carried food from the other table to ours. He cooked with his back to us. It took 1 hr 15 minutes for them to take our order and bring us soup and salad, which was bland and the salad dressing tasted and looked watered down. I could not rate them lower than 1 star or I would have. They don’t deserve that! My family will not return! Plus the manager was rude! We paid for our drinks, soup and salad and went to Shogun when we left and received excellent food, customer service and the show we paid for. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT UCHI SUSHI IN DESTREHAN!!! What a disgrace to our parish!

Great hibachi restaurant with excellent, very flavorful hibachi, friendly service, and lots of seating. I ordered the filet mignon and chicken with rice, vegetables, mushroom soup, and salad. It was all really good. Wasn't very busy on a Monday evening around 7pm.

I have ordered their hibachi rice several times, but always to-go. Today, I decided to dine in, and that the beginning of a disappointing experience. The host was ok, he seated us, got our drinks, and brought our clear soup. However, we waited at least 30-35 minutes for the hibachi chef to come out and start cooking our food. During that time, I asked the host twice where was the cook to which he responded “he’s coming” When he finally did come, we asked him why it had taken so long to which he replied “oh” and continued to cook the entire time with no hospitality and no conversation (not that a chef is required to conversation with their guests, but this was the first hibachi restaurant I’ve been to where one did not). I give them 1 star on customer service. I will not be returning.

I never leave reviews like this but I feel like this just needs to be known... DISGUSTED is an understatement. Went out to dinner at this place with a friend for her son's birthday seated around the hibachi grill. Couldn't help but notice HOW NASTY AND UNCLEAN that area was. So I was already really skeptical about eating there. Decided to pass on the hibachi & order from the kitchen. Food came out, I didn't care for the taste, gave it to my husband. No sooner than I did that a ROACH fell from the ceiling and onto (where my food would have been). They were not concerned whatsoever, the chef even stated that he would eat it and they also eat the cat and dog. I CAN HONESTLY SAY I WILL NEVERRRR RETURN. I was sick to my stomach.
Sushi was really good. I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually worth the money and I will definitely be eating there again.
Kid-friendliness: They were really nice and as soon as we sat my daughter was given chopsticks that were for kids use. They also brought her candy when we were leaving.
