I mean... does it compare to Texas Q? Absolutely not. Is it better than the big guys in Shreveport? Absolutely. The ribs are WAYYYY overcooked and need a lot more seasoning. The brisket needs more pepper. The bark on the brisket is nigh non-existent.
The sides though? Best jambalaya I've had at a BBQ joint. Not even close. The mac, however, needs Jesus and a lot more cheddar cheese, though the noodles are great, and the texture of the cream cheese is refreshing.
If the brisket had more seasoning and was wrapped in butcher paper instead of foil, this would be great. If the ribs weren't cooked to oblivion, broiled in tin foil for an hour longer than they should, and had more seasoning, they'd be great. If nothing else, the seasoning is awesome. It just needs as much love as they show their jambalaya.
I'll definitely be back, though. I'll chop up my visit as just a bad day. The folks are great so I want to support them!

Good side of the road BARBQUE . It's a family affair , I think 2nd and 3rd generation is running the place. Quaint inside dining.

What an incredible find!!! Great bbq, great atmosphere and great prices. You know your brisket and ribs are tender when you can cut them with a plastic fork! Some of the friendliest people you ever want to meet! Thank you for a great lunch, we will be back! Do not let the outside deter you! Once you step I side, you will realize you are where you need to be!!

My taste buds are dancing! They served up some of the best smoked brisket and ribs I've ever had, the brisket melts in your mouth and the meat fell right off the bones. The sausage links had great smoky flavor and were super juicy. The chef let us sample the chopped beef and jambalaya and they were both delish! We lucked out and got the last banana pudding and that topped off our meal deliciously. Don't let the shack in the middle nowhere fool ya. Great eats coming from a humble establishment.So glad we made the stop, very easy parking and right off the interstate. (Enough parking to stop in our moving truck) Don't miss out! Thank you to our gracious hosts. Wonderful people with great food and great service.
