El Gato Negro Gretna Reviews
We had our holiday party here and it was absolutely amazing!! Starting with the frozen margaritas, through the chips, salsa, queso and table side fresh guacamole and onto the tacos, quesadillas and burritos the food was delicious and authentic.
Of course a great dining experience includes both food and service and just like the food the service was top notch. The staff truly made it a wonderful experience.
Before we left we were already planning a return visit!

El Gato Negro in Gretna offers a high-quality Mexican dining experience, featuring fresh and delicious food that keeps customers coming back. The menu includes standout dishes like the stuffed avocado, special queso, and the recommendable enchilada trio, with gluten-free options available. The Cabo San Lucas ceviche is noted for its full flavor, while the skirt steak is praised for being cooked perfectly, and the grilled zucchini serves as a great complement. The cocktails are also a highlight, including some of the best margaritas in town, such as the fantastic Watermelon Margarita. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, with shoutouts to excellent servers like Henry, who make everyone feel welcomed.
The restaurant boasts a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making it ideal for a date night or a meal with friends. Located in downtown Gretna, it is a quick drive over the bridge, surrounded by a quaint area perfect for a stroll, with sights like a farmers market and a chocolate and coffee house nearby. While the prices are higher than some other Mexican restaurants, the quality of food and drink justifies the cost. Large portions remain delicious even the next day. Overall, El Gato Negro is a top-notch Mexican spot that is definitely worth a visit.
