Eating here was not on our radar. However, after arriving 90 minutes late to New Orleans (no thanks to American Airlines), then waiting 2 1/2 hours for our rental car (avoid Budget Car Rental at MSY, they are incompetent), we were starving and couldn’t wait until our final destination to get dinner. We found Dots on Google Maps, and arrived after a 5 minute drive from the airport. Finally, the first GOOD THING that happened on this trip! This place specializes in feeding locals, the number of apparent regular diners was impressive for a Thursday night. Staff was extremely friendly, the service was FAST, and the food was fresh, hot, and outstanding! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We love Dot’s!!! The service was awesome! We felt at home. I love that we could get breakfast and dinner together at 10:30pm fresh. No reheated frozen food here. Want it a little different than the menu? No problem, because they actually cook it when you order. This place lives up to the commercials. Can’t wait to go back!

Nice small place with great food . Friendly people and good size portions for the price. Nice atmosphere and very clean.
In the morning, Gloria was very inspirational in leading a prayer and there was a small chain of prayer going around the restaurant. It was very nice. I was feeling sad and after the prayer I felt better. The breakfast was delicious. The food was fast and reasonable, however, at night time we went back, expecting the same service and it was a completely different crew Large Roton women with shaved heads the cook was dropping F bombs and bossing the other girls around it was a train wreck when we ordered the liver and onions. The liver was so very tough that you could barely cut it and it was full of gristle and when we stopped the busy waitress to tell her that that was very bad she just said sorry and ran off the only way you could ruin liver and In Az if you pull it out of the freezer frozen and drop it on a skillet. The onions were not caramelized. They were just plain raw there seem to be a lot of F bombs dropped by the cook.
We came straight from the airport hoping to find a good late-night shrimp po’boy, and Dot’s Diner did not disappoint. As we walked in, two officers were heading out and said, “Thanks for the great food.” That told me everything I needed to know—those guys can eat anywhere, and they choose this place. A very good sign. We grabbed seats at the counter and were greeted by Haley, who welcomed us with a warm smile and got our drinks started right away. For being after 10 p.m., the place was still surprisingly busy, and the service was fantastic from the very beginning. We ordered the shrimp po’boy and the cheesesteak, and both were delicious—hot, fresh, and quickly served. By the time we were finishing our meal, we had already met most of the staff. Everyone was friendly and genuine, and José and Noel especially stood out with their kindness and their sincere concern about whether we were enjoying our food. We’ll definitely be back. I’m already eyeing the breakfast menu—it looks amazing.
We did show up late (before closing) and the lady in charge was ready to serve us.
However, she took the next customers order before ours and when the man was upset because his dessert wasn't with his order the lady was rude to him and she still kept talking about the situation well after he had left. We waited for a considerable amount time before our order was even taken. The food was ok.

We came in hot off the streets. HUNGRY!…. Famished even !!!! Me and the boys were traveling for work. 3 days in the South Louisiana heat had us craving something different. 18 hour cause a hunger that can only be satisfied in the normal way, with food. The exceptional reviews online indicated that we should expect an experience. Maybe even the world’s greatest diner. Upon entering Dots, the facilities were diner like, the servers server like and the tables ….. table like. We were told to seat ourselves and after much deliberation (we felt like Goldilocks! Should we sit in a booth? Too cramped! Maybe one of the intimate two chair tables next to the wall? Too intimate! Or a roomy 4 chair table? Just right! ) We opted for the 4 chair table. As we waited for our server, the 1950’s Temu decor screamed at us from the walls and the silver banding on the edge of the tables beckoned us to step back in time…. But that wasn’t possible, because time travel isn’t real. Time is real however and our server took mere moments to take our drink order and deliver a delicious glass of water and cup of coffee. My companion was distract by the decor and failed to have his order ready when the server came around and so we had to send her away. In typically server fashion she never came back to the table and after 7 minutes and 21 second a second server took out order. Exactly 1 minute and 48 seconds later our food arrived. Steaming! juicy! I ordered the lumberjack with gravy, toast and a bowl of grits. he got the 1-2-3 pancakes (I dont know why the he said it wasn’t because he hadn’t had pancakes in a while). Weird choice what adult eats pancakes, but I digress. The food was edible - 3.5 stars. The restaurant quaint (if not a little touristy)- 3.5 stars. Wait staff was nice, polite, friendly, not too pushy or chatty - 1 star. Overall this is a 5 star join with class.
