Me and my husband first time at restaurant we had a reservation on Valentine Day. When we enter the restaurant it was elegant the staff was great, food was great. Me and husband well returned again.
One of our better times at Alder & Birch! Everything was well-prepared and had excellent taste. Everyone was in great spirits, and the drinks were flowing from Brennan, who really, really excels! If you are craving the best espresso martini or old-fashioned we have found anywhere in town, stop by and say hi and make your taste buds sparkle! Darlene is always wonderful and that reminds me not forget the guys who manage the place! John and Mr. Rick. They keep everything running in tip-top shape. Thank you.
Love this place. The drinks are fantastic. I do wish they had more pasta options.the waiter was amazing he was great putting up with this crew. I would like to suggest getting an outside entrance so if someone is 20 they would be able to come and eat also. Thank goodness all of kids were over 21 but if not they wouldn't have been able to join us. But overall great !
Our food was good but not as hot as the first time we dined at the restaurant. Also our service was not as exceptional as our first experience. I don't like to complain, because we really love your restaurant. The other problem, we when got home some of our food was not all packed, we ordered creamed spinach and it was not in our bag. I had a bone in rib eye and i thought they would of packed it with my steak. They didn't but that is ok, i forgot to tell him i wanted it, i guess. All in all we still love the restaurant. We have reservations for Christmas day also.
Took my wife for 72nd birthday. Was sat right away. The waiter was not very professional. Dressed sloppy, very slow in service to us. Our meal arrived after 2 other tables food which were seated after us. After eating a little of the food, asked for our remaining food to be boxed. After finally getting the bill, waiting for the waiter to return with my credit card and paying, we left without receiving our boxed leftovers. We called after almost making it to Gonzales, they said they had the leftovers to return. We then returned and sat at the bar waiting for our waiter to bring us the boxes. We were told to sit at the bar. We ordered drinks which took a little while. We waited over 30 minutes before finally getting g up and ready to walk out. The waiter had to be called over to us and the bag with leftovers was put behind the hostess stand. After paying for a fairly dry filets meals $195.00 plus a $40.00 tip...the staff we encountered were not professional or attentive to us. We told the waiter at the beginning it was my wife's birthday and had plans after our meal. I will never recommend Alder & Birch. Overpriced for the meal. My wife order Main Lobster surf & Turf. The filet was a nice size but the small amount of lobster was shocking.
The food was an absolute disappointment. It was our first and last time. Steaks were over cooked and with very little flavor. I dont mind paying for good food, but the food was very disappointing. I think it should've been a hint when we were the only customers there at our reservation time. French onion soup was entirely too salty, steaks over cooked. My husband's ribeye was well done when he ordered medium. Waiter didn't check if the cook of the steaks was to our liking. Baked potato was average. Best thing was the wedge salad and chocolate molten cake. Not a good sign for a steakhouse! Hope they can get it together soon. It was over $300 for 4 people. That would've been ok if the quality was there.
We ordered the filet and it was cooked perfectly and the loaded baked potato was fluffy and delicious. Service was great! Reservations was for 5:30 and we were in and out within an hour.
The first time I ate, the steak was excellent. Every time thereafter it is lesser and lesser. It has become almost tasteless. The vegetables are good, and the desserts remain a real treat.
Perhaps it was just a "bad night" but did not enjoy the experience at all. It started off 'downhill' when the waitress (finally) got around to start taking our order: there were immediately three menu items 'not available', all which we had considered as an option to order; she wasn't sure whether the (brand) champagne we ordered was in stock so we settled on wine. After another extended wait (we seriously were considering just paying for the wine and leaving) when the soup(s) we ordered (French Onion and Corn & Crab bisque) finally arrived they were admittedly more than ample in amount served, tasty and adequately warm/hot. It was a different story with the Delmonico steak -- we had ordered it "just" medium-well ... it was served "medium burnt" with ample gristle and fat; we made the best of it and ate what was palatable (I've eaten better cuts of Delmonico and definitely ones better prepared). To top it off there then was the "bill fiasco" -- charged for an on menu included side as well as an additional side which we had decided to cancel: while the matter was eventually resolved and settled it was one additional unwelcome and unnecessary 'nail in the coffin'. As I said, perhaps it just a "bad night".
Our food was absolutely fabulous. Loved every bit of it, but the restaurant was definitely understaffed. Our server was great and did his absolute best, but it was obvious he was doing more than one person's job that night. Dinner from start to finish was a little over 2.5 hours, which is a while.

Food was good, but steaks weren't cooked as requested (medium rare). They were understaffed causing our waiter to have to double as a bartender...took 15 minutes to get our check. Hostess was rude and more interested in her phone than “hosting.” Disappointed in the over-priced experience as was hoping to have an upscale restaurant in the Kenner area. I don't plan on going back.
Food was phenomenal. Service was exceptional. Staff saw to our needs. Food was enjoyable and seasoned well. Will return to this establishment again.
Mrs Darlene was the best server I have ever had. She made our anniversary celebration extra special by taking great care of us and recommending the incredible food. She also recommended we try the jalapeño drink which was incredible if you like a spicy refreshing drink, which we loved. Overall a 10/10 between the food, the drinks and Mrs Darlene's exceptional service.
Service was excellent. The food was very good. The best was the corn and shrimp soup with the bread.
Husband had gumbo and beef medallions. He enjoyed both. Gumbo and entree came out hot. I had eggplant parmesan with lump crab meat on top. Entree hot, eggplant tender as were beef medallions. A lot of food, I brought half my eggplant home with the creamed spinach side. We had creme brulee and lemon sorbet for dessert also large portions and both delicious. Service was excellent and executive chef came out to check on us.
