I used to just review places that were one star or five stars. The best and the worst. However, there are so many places in New Orleans that I've started to delve into everything in between. This restaurant is no different. The first couple of times I tried to go there, the music was so loud and obnoxious that I didn't even leave the parking lot. However, at 5:00 p.m. on Taco tuesday, the place is very laid back and accommodating. $1.50 dine-in tacos is hard to beat. Decent flavor. Simple but effective. The waitresses, however, always seem to provide Black Luster service. It's only with white people. If a Latin person comes in, they are just bursting with energy. They act like they don't want me and my friends to come in because we are American. Keep in mind this is New Orleans. You know... AMERICA. I like going here, but at this point I may decide to go somewhere else. Especially if I'm being discriminated against.

Worse experience I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant!Tables were dirty food was cold and nasty !We were over charged and we received can drinks non refillable. No one in the restaurant could speak proper English !We couldn’t understand any of them or anything they were trying to say!If you don’t speak Spanish please do not eat here I repeat do not eat HERE ,they will take advantage of you and overcharge you!

Really great food. Best Mexican food I've had, east of Texas. The green sauce is veeeeeery spicy but so good. If you want an authentic Mexican dish, this is the place to be.

This place used to be good. Now it’s terrible. Service has always been bad. The waitresses sit down and chat while your water is empty and don’t bother to check in on you. The tacos went up 50 cents which is not a big deal but the portions of protein on the tacos was maybe a quarter size. Not to mention my son had fajitas that was so salty. It made my son and I stomach hurt and we both had diarrhea. Do not recommend.
The atmosphere wasn’t bad, but unfortunately, the food really missed the mark. I ordered the chorioqueso, and it tasted like it was made with a block of Velveeta-style cheddar—not what I was expecting. I also had five pastor tacos, and they were extremely dry, which made them pretty unpleasant to eat. The pastor quesadilla was overly greasy, with oil dripping off of it, and the lettuce on the side seemed like the pre-packaged kind—watery and lacking in freshness. On top of that, they didn’t offer any mild salsa, only spicy options, which felt limiting. Overall, I was really disappointed and don’t plan on coming back

Loud Music, Good Food, Lacking Service
Unfortunately, my visit to Chilangos in Kenner was more of a miss than a hit. While the food itself was actually pretty good, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
The biggest issue? The music was way too loud. It was nearly impossible to hold a conversation, let alone relax and enjoy the meal. It felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant, which took away from what could have been a great dining atmosphere.
The wait staff also left much to be desired. Service was inattentive and slow, with long stretches of time between checking in, getting drinks, or even just being acknowledged. It really took away from the experience, especially considering how promising the food was.
Chilangos has potential—there’s clearly care put into the kitchen. But unless the noise level is toned down and the service improves, it’s not a place I’d be quick to return to.

I ordered the molcajete and the flavor perfect! My wife had the tacos and their meat had great flavor, better than your average taco shop. I highly recommend Chilangos.

Friendly staff, music is good, space is on the smaller side. Tacos are flavorful, but on the smaller side, however, at $1.50 a piece, it's a steal.
