The menu is excellent. The food was memorable. The soft shell crab was outstanding lightly battered, large and available plain or with a fresh lemon butter or crawfish cream sauce. All were great. The Steak Diane was beautiful when served and tasted even better. Service was as good or better than the food. The prices were very reasonable. A hidden jewel family restaurant. I highly recommend

The chicken Marsala was not very good. It came to the table with large chunks of tomatoes which tasted a bit of tin can. There was hardly any sauce and what was present was so thin that nothing stuck to the pasta.
The waitress was extremely nice. She offered to take it off my bill as she could see it did not look like Marsala. She was so busy and only two servers were on the floor. I took the pieces of chicken home to see if my husband wanted it since the dish was $19.00. The pasta and tomatoes stayed on the plate.

This hidden gem is absolutely amazing. I could eat the gumbo all day every day. The seafood plate is a lot of food. They give you these oyster cracker thingies that are really addictive. I do feel they should give more than 5 crab claws considering they are so small but other than that, amazing!The inside is gorgeous compared to the outside. The inside looks like a time capsule of a 1950s mansion. There is a bar and the staff is amazing. I had Dedra and she was very attentive. The crown was mainly older, seasoned individuals but I loved that, I think they are keeping this place to themselves. If you are ever in Lacombe, do NOT leave the area without eating here, you will NOT be disappointed!!!! Fyi, the prices are not high compared to the quality of food.

My husband and I were camping at Fontainebleau State Park and decided last minute to try out Janie Brownâs for dinner. We had a wonderful first experience there. The people were friendly, the restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was prompt, and the food was fresh and delicious. We had the fried fish and soft shell crab (both with baked potatoes instead of fries), and our meals were perfect from beginning to end. Even the salad and toast were excellentâŠand that fish batter was reminiscent of the âgood ole days.â As an added bonus, the bar stocked non-alcoholic beer (Coors Edge), which allowed us to splurge a bit, as we no longer drink but still love to have a beer together. In talking with our server, we heard a little bit of the background of Janie Brownâs, and learning its history as a family restaurant made us even happier to be there. We definitely will be back!

The hostess was extremely nice, but the food was not so great. The service was very slow as well and the waitress was inexperienced. Ordered the BBQ shrimp appetizer which was served luke warm. My daughter ordered the chicken fettuccine and the chicken was undercooked. My husband ordered the steak Diane and it was extremely vinegary piled high with crispy onion strings, which was the only decent part of the dish. Definitely won't be back.

I have eaten and taken out food here several times over the last 2 years. Everything has always been amazing! The staff is so kind, and this might be the cutest and quaint restaurant around. The bar is the perfect stop to eat in or have a drink while you take food to go!
