This is a long overdue post, but it is shared with deep gratitude.
Just beyond the bustle of town, there’s Ms Mel’s shop specialising in Beignets and cakes.
There’s plenty of parking right outside, the atmosphere is quiet and unhurried, the kind of place where time seems to soften around the edges.
Visiting Ms. Mel’s shop goes beyond a transaction. In here, you’ll experience warm hospitality, with sincere care towards her visitors and a genuinely homey feel, which makes the visit instantly comfortable, like you’ve been here before even though it is your first visit.
The Beignets—after visiting multiple stops across Lafayette and NO, I would say Ms. Mel’s is easily one of the best, even better than those popular shops in NO. I still think about her praline Beignets till this day.
Upon ordering, the beignets are served hot and fresh with that perfect balance of crispy crust and soft pillowy inside goodness, and you can tell they are made with love and care.
One bite in to them sends you straight to pastry heaven! The warm, airy center melts in your mouth, and a cloud of powdered sugar coats your lips in a good way. This is the kind of bite that makes you pause, smile, be grateful for your day, and makes you go back for another bite. Messy fingers and al, it’s totally worth it.
Thank you, Ms Mel for the lovely Beignets and cake. We truly had an amazing time here, and our visit to your shop is indeed one of the best stops in our trip.

There are truly not enough positive words to express how Ms. Mel the owner of Sweet Envie provides quality service and products. From the day I contacted her to order cakes for my son's 1st birthday her demeanor was always professional and showed care to ensure that my vision came to life. Both cakes were AMAZINGLY Delicious! And if you are a fan of cake with great flavor and not just sugar Ms. Mel is the number 1 go too. She has officially been given the title by our family as our Cake Lady, and I look forward to her work becoming part of pur future events. Thanks Ms. Mel, and keep up the great work!

Do not sleep on this lady. Today I purchased the smoked rotel and chicken salad. I had to stop and get crackers from the store because I couldn’t wait to get home to eat it🤦🏽♀️ then I topped it off with the beignet trio (praline, glazed, powdered) straight pressure 😋 the praline beignet was my favorite. She serves them cooked as you order so it was nice and hot. Everything was 10/10.

Randomly came across a post about glazed beignets and had to try them. Seeing how the owner treats her customers is second to none. She tries to get to know every customer and treats them as if they're regulars. You can taste the love that goes into all her confections. This humble bakery deserves customers out the door. I had the glazed beignets, brownie, and biscoff cheesecake. They were all so delicious.

She has amazing customer service and she confirms your order before and at pick up. She also brought the cake to us in the rain so we wouldn’t have to get out the
