best hibachi i’ve ever had!!! dessert was amazing too. 10/10
We came in with a reservation for a party of six for a moms' night out, and everything was fantastic from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and relaxed — perfect for catching up and enjoying great food. Everyone ordered different rolls, and every single one was a hit! The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and the pacing of the meal was just right.
Food and atmosphere are always superb; however, we waited for 56 minutes to get our food on the table. We ordered simple dishes, California roll, sashimi, and a poke bowl; of course we complained to the manager because we had 2 young kids and had not been fed at 6:58pm. No explanation except the manager being apologetic, but two minutes after we complained, the food was here. The lady who was sitting on the table next to us waited for the same amount of time for her one roll of sushi, she ate her food and left the restaurant within 5 minutes the food was on the table. That was ridiculous, someone must’ve dropped the ball but we wish it could be admitted or at least an explanation why this happened especially for simple dishes that we ordered. We are not going back regardless how we liked the food. We can easily get the same quality food from so many other Asian cuisine restaurants in Lafayette.

The food wasn't very good in my opinion for the price.
I have been to multiple sushi restaurants around Lafayette that offer better selections for a lower price.

I had high hopes when we decided to dine at Nhi, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only about four other customers, we were left waiting for a while before anyone even acknowledged our presence. The waitress passed by our table multiple times without so much as a glance, leaving us wondering if we were ever going to be served.
When we were finally able to place our order, the soups that arrived were the highlight of the meal—rich and flavorful, giving us a brief glimmer of hope. However, that hope quickly faded with the arrival of our sushi rolls. Two of the rolls were particularly disappointing, with one, the flaming roll, tasting overwhelmingly of whatever substance was used to create the flame effect. It was as if the entire roll was drenched in the chemical flavor.
We politely mentioned this to the waitress, hoping for some kind of resolution, but our concerns were met with indifference. There was no apology, no visit from a manager, and certainly no attempt to make things right by offering a discount or removing the item from our bill. Even a simple acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction would have gone a long way, but instead, we were left feeling ignored.
Overall, our experience at Nhi was disappointing, to say the least. The initial promise of good food was overshadowed by poor service and a lack of care for customer satisfaction. We won't be returning, and unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant to others.

We did order to go but even with that in consideration the food honestly was just not good. The fried rice actually didn’t have flavor. The chicken and veggies for the hibachi chicken looked boiled instead of thrown on the grill, literally not one instance of char or anything. Chicken was white. Hate that this was our experience but for $100 the only one of us who enjoyed our meal was our child who got chicken nuggets and French fries. If sushi/Asian food is what you’re craving, there’s too many other good options in this town.

When you come to eat some noodles for $20 or sushi for 18$ a roll, you do expect top tier. Sadly, the food quantity was below average. It left you wanting more. The quality, majority of our food was good. There was a garlic dish that was way too much garlic and none of us could finish it. The server, she must have had a bad day. No smiles, had to ask for refills, and was just bland. The biggest issue that made me post this review. We had the runs when we got home. I'm fine a day later, but my significant other is still having stomach aches and the runs. $80 for 2 people wasn't worth it.

Walked in, it smelled of a clean home so they were already winning on that front alone. Sat down to eat, the server was friendly and courteous. The food was amazing! We ordered quite a bit, I was actually overwhelmed by all of it. I ended up getting the ramen bowl, which one I don’t remember but it was delicious! It had a spicy symbol but honestly it wasn’t very spicy. I plan to go back and when I do, I’ll add photos!
