Visited with party of six for a late lunch and the place was about empty. Po Boy shrimp sandwich was large enough to split, but very good. Grilled catfish was also very good. Wait staff was a bit flustered (even with very few people there), but friendly enough.
Good, tasty food at a fair price!
Food and service were excellent. The fried catfish and chicken & sausage gumbo had great flavor and were fresh.
I visited Vermillionville and this restaurant while in Lafayette for Festival International. I can't wait to return to this charming restaurant! That's saying a lot because Lafayette is filled with excellent food! I ordered the plate lunch which started with a cup of excellent gumbo. It had a beautiful dark roux and was full of wonderful flavor. That set the standard for the rest of the meal. My lunch plate was filled to the brim with all manner of deliciousness. There was crawfish etouffee over rice, smothered green beans that tasted like they came from my mama's kitchen, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, and a huge biscuit. I was too full to have dessert, although I regret not trying the bread pudding. Next time...My server was very friendly and efficient, and the setting charming. It was an excellent value. I will definitely return!!
I ventured to Lafayette to attend Festival International. Since I had the morning and most of the afternoon free the day after my arrival I decided to head to Vermillionville to explore the historic village and have lunch at La Cuisine de Maman. What a great decision!! The food at the restaurant was delicious. I had the plate lunch with a cup of seafood gumbo to start. Everything was really good. The plate lunch that day was crawfish etouffee over rice, smothered green beans, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, and a big biscuit. Portions were very generous; I thought that some of the food might overflow onto the table.đ I didn't have room for dessert; although I've since been told by lots of people that I should have taken it with me. After eating, I explored the village. What an amazing blend of history and culture it is! I can't wait to return.
Bad service. Hostess ignores you. Two Waiters canât handle 7 tables at same time. They were not nice at all.
Aleena was fantastic! We arrived a few minutes before closing but she was very patient and explained the menu options thoroughly. She even shared some nearby entertainment ideas as well that were spot on! Thank you for a great experience... next time we're in town we'll be sure to visit again!

Wish they would broadcast that they only serve a buffet with 2 entree items on Sundays. Got a plate not knowing that they didnât have the full menu, and didnât eat it and still had to pay $19 for it. Iâm sure the food is good on other days. Just wish the workers would say more than how many and what do you want to drink.

We were looking for local cuisine and had The Vermilionville Restaurant recommended to us. My husband ordered the Jambalaya, my daughter ordered the Gumbo, while I ordered the baked potato to have room for bread pudding. All were delicious!I loved the many windows and brightness of the dining room. I also enjoyed the art by a local artist.

?????âȘïžThe cuisine here is comforting.Today the dish of the day was pork ribs smothered with okra smothered (the vegetable not the dish, aka okra here)But there was still a starter on the daily menu of gumbo ?with andouille and chickenIt was complete with a brownie for dessert.
