My 87 year old mother, my sister in law and I had lunch at Augustine’s today at their grand opening. The lunch was fantastic! We started with delicious appetizers-crab claws in butter, onion soup, and truffle fries with Parmesan cheese. Absolutely delicious. We then enjoyed the fried oyster salad with cornbread bread crumbs (yummy!) and the chicken flatbread with balsamic vinegar and I think honey. You had to roll us out of the door as...read full review

Augustine is an upscale restaurant on main street, considered an absolute gem and one of the best in the city. The atmosphere is dark, moody, and cozy with plum colors, dim ambient lighting, and an exquisite bar, creating a feeling of being in an upscale jazz bar or a getaway unlike anything else in Lake Charles. The decor is quaint and beautiful, with tasteful decorations, making it perfect for a date night or a night out.
The food is exceptional and some of the best ever had. Standout dishes include the truffle fries, charcuterie board, lobster French toast, duck crepes, blue crab spaghetti, duck gumbo, and the filet topped with brown meunière. The chicken cordon brie is rich, cheesy, and impressive. Desserts like the layered chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, ganache, and homemade whipped cream are incredible and taste homemade. Drinks are also excellent, from the perfect Augustine Old Fashioned to a margarita noted as one of the best in town.
Service is impeccable and 10/10, described as attentive, efficient, and fantastic. The experience is hassle-free with simple reservations. Overall, it offers a top dining experience in SWLA with great prices, making it a highly recommended must-visit that deserves support.
