Want to shout out T'Pot Noir Cajun Kitchen
Very often I forget to meal plan or prep, leading to me needing to grab lunch in town.
Fast food continues getting more expensive and ultimately I don't find it very enjoyable most times.
We picked up some beef tip plate lunches today. T'pot is amazing, she makes food that makes you feel like you're at home eating a delicious homemade meal.
And to top it off, these Plate lunches are a great price. You have choices on sides, you get homemade bread rolls or cornbread with it.
Her meals are bangers all around.
If you find yourself out and about and need lunch or even if there is a specific meal you've been craving but don't have the time to make for yourself, check out her calendar and stop on by at

Cha! You have to try dis place. We ate here first time and will be back many more times. True Cajun bayou cooking!!
If you miss eating plate lunches at Hackettes you will love her cooking. Genuine home cooked food served with a smile in a cozy mommas kitchen atmosphere.
She also has cooked food frozen you can buy and take home for another day of good eating.

I’m visiting Lake Charles and wanted a better lunch option. This was it! Home cooking better than I can make! I had chicken breast, rice dressing, garlic carrots, green beans and cornbread. 😋There are also prepared entrees to take home and heat, plus several varieties of chicken salad.

I had lunch there 2 times now. Beef tips over rice, with green beans, smothered potatoes, and a piece of cornbread the 1st time. Baked chicken, dirty rice, green beans, cream corn, and a garlic knot the 2nd time. The food is like stopping by your mom's or grandma's unannounced and they won't let you leave until you eat. The lady, (sorry I don't know her name yet) gave me a sample taste bite of her mac and cheese. It was literally, just one shell macaroni, covered in cheese sauce. It was the best mac and cheese I've ever tasted. Honestly, the 2nd time I went back, it was to get that mac and cheese. As my luck goes, it wasn't on the menu that day. Super friendly service, the food on a scale of 1 to 10 for me was an 11. If your in the neighborhood, I highly suggest this place.
(Edit, or Update, whichever you prefer)
I've been back a 3rd and a 4th time now, and still can't find anything negative about the food here. If you want authentic tasting home-cooked food, this is your place. For my 3rd lunch I had, red beans and rice, corn, green beans, and a roll. The 4th time (and my favorite so far) I got baked chicken, corn, green beans, the best mac and cheese ever, and a roll. I swear, everything I've eaten here tastes like my mom cooked it. You don't even have to add seasoning, it's just right, as is. I could eat here every day and not get tired of the menu. If you are a fan of mac and cheese, this is a must try!

**A Hidden Gem for Home-Cooked Comfort in Lake Charles**
While juggling the demands of setting up my rental property, I found myself too busy to prepare a meal—and craving a taste of **true home cooking**. This restaurant was the perfect solution, delivering a heartfelt meal that felt just like something made with love in a family kitchen.
From the moment I walked in, the owner’s hospitality made all the difference. She offered samples of her **incredible chicken salad**, and let me tell you—it was perfection. The flavors were fresh, balanced, and comforting, setting the stage for the unforgettable meal ahead.
Although my hunger kept me from snapping a picture, every bite was worth it! I enjoyed the **chicken fricassee** paired with classic **potato salad, green beans, and a dinner roll**.
If you ever find yourself in **Lake Charles or anywhere along the Gulf Coast**, I can’t recommend this spot enough. Whether you're busy like I was or just in need of a homestyle meal that truly delivers, this restaurant won’t disappoint.
Stopped here for a plate lunch, the food is c'est bon, get you some
Great atmosphere and the food is incredible! Authentic Cajun Food! Try the baked chicken!
Yum! We stopped in for lunch. The special of the day was baked chicken and cabbage rolls. We had cornbread, green beans, sweet potatoes, Mac n' cheese, and corn as sides. We also had the homemade root beer. For dessert, we had a brownie and pecan pie. It was all so delicious.
The owner was so sweet. She gave us a sample of her yummy homemade smothered cabbage and gave us some background on her recipes.
She had three tables in the dining room to eat at, but everybody else was coming in for takeout on their lunch break.
We enjoyed our meal so much, we bought a pint of chicken salad and a seafood fettuccine to go. We heated the fettuccine up that night in our hotel and the chicken salad for lunch the next day. It was all so good!
