This is the dim sum place for San Francisco. Go! (And order the crab dumpling, the chicken soup dumpling, the pork buns and the sesame dessert!)
Customer for over 60 years. Not sure what happened the other day - infrequent carts and carts that skipped our area for up to 30 minutes at a time. Many regular items were not available. No staff came to bring water and other food orders never arrived. Atmosphere and what food did arrive were still very good.
Dim sum was lukewarm including the pork soup dim sum. Carts barely passed by. I have been going here for over a decade and this is the first time the dim sum quality was low. The Sumai was cold so it was chewy. The bill was super expensive and none of us at the table were fulfilled. Very disappointing. It was a Friday around noon and lots of traffic due to construction around the building could have played a reason for workers to show up very late.
The food and variety were great. Whenever we are in San Francisco, we make it a point to dine here!
There is no Dim Sum restaurant in San Francisco that rivals Yank Sing. I have been visiting Yank Sing since their location on Broadway and quality of food and authenticity of experience remains to this day
Best wonton soup and pork egg fu yung I’ve had in years, very generous portions. Tried the Sesame chicken and liked that as well but in all honesty, I always go for the pork egg fu, my husband and I usually get a large wonton soup, egg rolls and an order of egg fu and it’s more than enough for the both of us for dinner. I know I need to try some other menu items but I love the egg fu so much I just can’t bring myself to order anything else. We haven’t had egg fu yung this good since 2007 when we moved to a Europe. We only discovered this restaurant this year but we sure are glad we did and now it’s pretty much our go to for Chinese every few weeks, sometimes more often!
There are better dim sum restaurants, with better quality, at better prices. A certain nostalgia exists for this place, it has been around for so long, and the Rincon Center is worth visiting for the Anton Refregier murals.
Great spot for dim sum. The servers bring carts around with most of the items they make at the restaurant. An app is also available to place an order directly to the kitchen.
Best dim sum this side of China. T has been my go-to place for table AND takeout. Food is consistent
Disappointing service. Had to ask for beverages 5 times. Selection of food was minimal compared to years ago when there was a huge variety. There are now other better dim sum restaurants. However the Shanghai dumplings are still the best.

I've enjoyed Yank Sing for 20 plus years. Their dim sum is subtle and elegant while being casually accessible. We've relocated to Portland and have found nothing to compare. We make our pilgrimage whenever we are in town. One standout is the potstickers. The dough manages to hold the flavorful filling and remain beautifully tender with a crispy bottom. A combination I not found elsewhere.
Yank Sing never disappoints! Fantastic dim sum experience that has become a tradition for our family.
Food was warm not hot. Food carts were very slow. Restaurant seems to have lost its magic over past few years.
Yank Sing never disappoints. Everything we had was well prepared and fresh. The staff was particularly good about having things sent to the table that we requested but had not yet seen go by in the carts. It was a busy holiday afternoon and the service was still seamless. There are no better soup dumplings. Thanks for being consistently excellent.
Haven't been to Yank Sing on Spear St. in years. Same great quality, service and atmosphere. Prices went up but what hasn't? Just glad the experience is still great.
