I used to frequent the la Carretas in Laplace, but moved and haven't had it in years. I was not disappointed in the mandeville location. Food was great, service was amazing and the atmosphere was comfortable and entertaining. Will return.

So i worked here, the manager, Brent Willis grouped me at the hostage stand... i was so stupid, no lie, he acted like he was going to grab the menus underneath the counter but grabbed my legs though i had spandex on then proceeded to come up it.. i was a blonde hair girl that was in college trying to support my two baby boys.. he lies to customers.. he puts everclear in Tito's.. Js.

I never write reviews for restaurants, but I am compelled to for this, due to the absolutely horrendous experience we had here. We arrived with an eight head to celebrate Christmas with our family and as soon as we started ordering our waited we had was rude and abrasive, and we thought maybe he was just having an off night and disregarded. Throughout the course of the dinner, it did not get better, he disappeared for long periods of time and then whenever we needed a refill or anything he was beyond rude and would jerk things out of our hands and make rude comments. Later on in the dinner when things started winding down another server/busser came and grabbed things people weren’t finished with and the final straw she came by while we were eating our chips and tried to actively grab them to take away we stated “hey excuse me, we’re not actually done with those” she responded “seriously? Fine I’m going to grab the plate under it” we finally snapped and said “what’s your problem, why are you being such a jerk?” She then slammed the plate and stormed away commenting rude things under her breath. After finishing the dinner we went to let the manager know about the horrible experience we had, and was also a jerk and just stated “well just don’t tip if you had a bad time” completely disregarding everything we told him. That being said we will NEVER GO BACK TO CARETAS in mandeville and will actively tell everyone we know to also not go. I have been a waiter and completely understand and am empathetic to the stresses of the job, but the way we were treated tonight was absolutely unacceptable and ruined a special time with my family.

My experience here was not bad nor was it very exciting. I will start off with the environment inside. The restaurant is very spacious and the decor is very fitting for the style of food, they get a B+ on that. The house salsa is above average on taste with some spice to it. I believe it is the right amount for the average family. The white queso is delicious but not the best in town. The restaurant seems to have a portion issue with some of their plates that I ordered, with the price attached to them I expected a little more on my plate. The food was better than other Mexican style restaurants in Covington and Mandeville but not the best. You shouldn't have much trouble eating here and enjoying a small meal with your spouse and or family. The wait time for food wasn't that bad either and came out hot. The waiter I had did a good job at being attentive to our table. Better than most places I go to eat. (The rice on the dishes left much to be desired.)

We used to love going to this restaurant but now we find ourselves disgusted that we ever ate there... We couldn't believe it but my entree(flautas)came with a significant piece of plastic in side.To add insult to injury, the restaurant manager Brent is trying to convince us that he does not see the piece of plastic in several pictures we sent him... I would include the pictures here but Google review is not allowing me to post them. But trust me the restaurant has several copies at this point of the plastic chunk in my food.So be careful what you eat here and certainly do not ask Brent to tell you what is in your food he had no clue.There's a really nice Mexican restaurant on highway 22 if you're looking for a better choice like us.

The food is traditional Tex-Mex. This is my go-to place for quick takeout. My only complaint is that they are TOO quick to bring your food when you dine in. I have learned to just order an appetizer and drinks and to hold off on the entrees until we are ready to eat. The meals are delivered within minutes of ordering. My favorite is the queso dip and the chicken quesadillas. The fajitas are large enough for two people to share.
Food was pretty good, no complaints at all..Service was great..would go back

I would like to thank Brent and the staff of La Carretta’s for the excellent service they provided during the celebration of our mom’s birthday celebration. You guys made everyone feel at home. The food and margaritas were delicious and we will definitely recommend this establishment to others!

Went for a birthday celebration, so it was a good bit of people. The restaurant itself was noce and clean and was definitely able to accommodate us comfortably. They have a room section off that holds about 50 ppl. They also have 4 TV's in that area. The music was really loud, so we kinda was yelling, but it's all good. The server was nice. He wasn't very attentive, but he did his job. The food was good, tasteful, and seasoned well. However, there is only cheese Quesadilla's, and when you order a protein, it's extra, so you can't just order a shrimp.or chicken Quesadilla. I did like how they put the toppings in a little taco bowl kinda thing. I got a small virgin daiquiri, and it was expensive. My fault, I didn't ask the price The bean dip is actually a queso bean dip, so you have to be specific when ordering if you just want bean dip only. Everyone was served in a timely manner, so that was great. The vibe was good.
