I went in and asked if I could purchase a side of avocado when the staff didn’t seem happy about that, I offered to buy 2 orders of sushi and they could charge me whatever they needed. This is my original plan was to get sushi and a side of avocado. I was just trying to figure out if it was possible or not.I was given an annoyed look and ignored. They were well staffed and the interaction was just overall confusing. Obviously, I would have tipped accordingly. But a staff member told me to go down the street to a store. I said it’s ok and I can take my business elsewhere and that seems to be exactly what they wanted. They didn’t seem very busy, maybe seven tables, well staffed. The staff did say sorry when I left but working in the customer service industry I understand that’s just a courtesy. I’ve never written a review before, but this whole interaction was just weird and embarrassing, especially for a restaurant that’s been open for so long. I hope to get served next time and not be met with annoyance. All I wanted was dinner. I will always support small businesses, no matter if they’re having a bad night or not So I’ll definitely just be doing takeout from now on and not going in to order.

By the end of the dinner, after we were finished eating sushi, they'd forgotten to even start cooking the dinners. They even forgot to bring us some of the sushi that we'd ordered. Finally, they brought out two of the dinners but the ramen was still another 15 minutes behind which I just refused. None of this is the bad part. The problem is that they never apologize for the failure. The last 4 times I've gone in there, I've spend well over $300 for the dinner and they can't muster an apology. Just disrespectful.

As a sushi lover, and I mean quality, not grocery store or even most places around here, all I can say is that this is best you will get on the North Shore. I've every place on this side of the lake and coming from someone who takes sushi seriously, like Sushi By Scratch, Nobu, the best places in NYC and Hawaii, this is only option on the North Shore IMO

Took my adult grandson to the Covington restaurant today for lunch. A roach crawled out from under his plate so we stopped eating immediately. When I informed the Manager, he offered to let us move to another booth but no offer to replace our lunch or discount my grandson’s portion. I paid the bill but I will not return.

I almost always order the sushi lunch. Very slowly week by week I've noticed the fish has been marginally less fresh.
It hit the breaking point recently when I was brought a piece of tuna that was flat out bad. I made the mistake of biting into it and immediately spit it out. It smelled almost rotten.
I'm really disappointed its gotten to this point, but the freshness of the fish is literally the most important part of a sushi restaurant. I should've complained in the restaurant but what's the point? The trust is broken now.
I may keep eating at the other location. Although I'm worried its headed the same direction I haven't had an experience this bad there...yet.

Hands down, best sushi experience in Mandeville. This place is next level - amazing creatively crafted rolls with the freshest ingredients, waitstaff comparable to NO fine dining. Just a great experience overall. Do yourself a favor and plan an evening there.

The servers were nice and very sweet, however the food was not appealing AT ALL. I was trying to decide between two ramen options in which the manager stated were made “fresh”. I asked if I could have a small sample of the two broths to help me decide. Absolutely stunned when the owner stated she could not do a sampling, as they were frozen and not fresh. She then returned to the table minutes later to try and say the broths were made in-house. I decided, against my best interest, to order the ‘Cajun ramen’, which touted many toppings including mussels. The toppings were incredibly sparse and very noticeably NOT fresh. The spicy broth I was told to be homemade tasted suspiciously similar to nongshim instant noodles. I ordered a few appetizers to sample, including the agedashi tofu. The fish flakes were so old, they didn’t even ‘dance’ with the heat of the oil. Even the skewers were lackluster. I love to leave rave reviews, however, I was so disappointed in the lack of value for the abhorrent prices of the food. I had notated the price of dishes while ordering and knew what I was getting into, but was absolutely appalled by the lack of quality for the price. I honestly felt like I had unknowingly stumbled into an episode of kitchen nightmares. Sadly, I will not be back and I pray no one gets sick from this restaurant.
